Yet another ToEleven scratch build

This project has really been on fire! Everything from the sculpt of the dent, to the lower left cheek, to the subtle take on the brow has panned out perfectly! I'm also eager to see how this next phase goes. Will you be attempting a glove mold? Good luck!

Thanks fellas!

I may as well post up where I'm at with this today.

I'm working on a brush-on mold with tin cure silicone I ordered from raw material suppliers. It's pretty easy to work with...I did 1 other mold with it and had good results.

Another round of pics. Brushed on a couple coats of PVA and fiberglassed the other half of the mother mold. Also cracked it open and cleaned up the excess hairs from hell.

What you see on the inside of the mother mold is just a rondo (resin+bondo) el cheapo gelcoat. Also, the silicone I'm using is shore 28, which I was able to roll of the buck with a little bit of effort without making a cut.

Anyway, I'm a little ahead of where I thought I would be...I should have a cast pulled by the weekend.

...still need to do the ear molds.

Here is the silicone I'm using if anyone is interested.

Ok, I finally got a halfway decent cast pulled. I say halfway because I believe the Stoner mold release I'm using is causing a weird reaction with he polyester gelcoat leaving a small ripple effect, which a little sanding and primer will take care of... also, I know I have a few voids in my silicone jacket behind the 1st layer which leave a very small bump in a few places which can be easily sanded out. Other than that I'm stoked about this helmet!!! I'll probably redo the mold at some point anyway.

I used 2 layers of fiberglass after the gelcoat which makes this thing as hard as a rock. I'm not sure if this is overkill. Maybe someone can chime in and enlighten me.

Now on to the ears and Rangefinder.

Now that's a solid-looking helmet! You have every reason to be stoked--that casting job looks great!! If and when you decide to make some kits, just say the word!

A little sanding is required for all helmets anyway, and that cast is already looking clean. Feel free to get some life out of that mold before you consider doing another! ;)

Thanks guys. Definitely no new molds anytime soon, but I'm always seeing what I can improve. My goal is(has become) to provide a kit so stay tuned. I've got a few more hurdles ahead to get to that point.
