This thing with Karen I don't get. She's a writer, she's created a language and culture to aid in the writing of her stories. That's exactly what happened with Star Trek's Klingons. Okay.... everyone takes the osik* out of Klingon costumers, but Klingonese (as I'm told it's called, i don't speak it!) adds depth to the characters of Star Trek and Mando'a does the same for Mandalorians. What's wrong with that? It makes the world more 3 dimensional. And yes it's in Expanded Universe books and games as opposed to the films, does that make it any the less legit? It's still Lucas approved, shouldn't that be enough? I realise that there are people out there that don't want to learn i, that have no interest in it, it's your choice.
As to Karen's head being too big and loving being worshipped! Grow up! Here's a reality check, the cult of celebrity IS all about being worshipped. Look at Tom Cruise, J K Rowling or any rock band, it's all about being seen and loved by people that enjoy what you do. If you get famous (even in the relatively small world of Star Wars novels (yes I know Karen has written more then just Star Wars, I own copies of them) then you enjoy being noticed. Hell even TDH's members are the same, with people posting images of themselves in this or that magazine, show or news article. Okay it's not the same scale but it IS the same thing.
Early this year Karen was a guest at KOTE's Spaceport event in Liverpool. She was such a good guest we have invited her back for Spaceport 3 in a few months time. During the weekend long event she was not only friendly but very approachable, joining us for breakfast the second day and I hasten to add NOT being the centre of attention, simply being someone else at the table that enjoys a fantasy universe the same as the rest of us. Doesn't sound big headed to me.
EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion on what they like or don't like. whether they are fans of the films, the original trilogy only, the whole Star Wars universe (EU included) or just certain areas of it. It doesn't make one type of fans superior to another. Don't forget, to the rest of the world, we are ALL weird and geekish.
As already pointed out, it's not real. Why all the arguing?
*sorry to use Mando'a. I tried to keep it in but it just popped out!
