paint the diamonds....before you put the green and grey down....im farely certain the red/blue were ruminants of the supertrooper helmets they were before being painted....if you look close at the ROTJ helmet you can see theyre under the green...
you can kinda see what I mean here....notice how the white is poking through the red and blue (black)

Eagle eye, as usual, Dom. I'm glad that I still have a ways to go before painting them, because I'll have to consider it. With the RotJ helmets I've done, I've intentionally painting the triangles 'haphazardly,' and I've found that painting over the base silver gives the same effect. But I'd certainly like to know for sure which is more accurate. Thank you!
As for the helmet, here's a quick rundown:
I've been itching for another commission/paintup, but I've been lazy on posting threads for them. The last paintup I did was on a really short time span, so I figured I'd put up a thread later. Anyways, a former commissioner who decided to focus on other projects had an untouched MDF helmet laying around, which he agreed to sell to me. It's essentially a cleaned up MF. And since it has lineage going back to the PP2 helmet, I figured that it'd be somewhat sacrilegious to paint it anything other than PP2. On the MDF helmet, some of the more noticeable bumps and bruises have been removed, as well as the physical damage, which I ended up having to put back in (ironic, don't you think?). Even though I've always been a fan of all of the Boba Fett helmets, I've fallen in love with the PP2. It's paint scheme is chaotic, ugly, and doesn't make much sense at all, but it's subtleties are also quite beautiful.
The helmet is absolutely bare bones, with no accessories at all, so I was able to acquire a set of all of the extra goodies from wasteland (great guy, For Sale thread
here), along with two sets of rangefinder tops from Terminal Fettler, including an upgrade (thread
here) for my FPH2-RotJ (still my first love).
The paint colors/technique is quite similar to the RotJ, so I already have most of the colors I'll need. On the never-ending quest for better accuracy, though, I'll be experimenting with new mixes and such. I've also been delving into the dark hobby of acquiring vintage paint (scored my first square bottle Floquil recently!).
Anyways, that's what's up with this lid. I can't wait to get back to it. Lots of pictures to come!
