Darkening my armor and bringing out details.

Hello again dented helmet folks, I come looking for help once again with the finishing touches on my armor. I wanna bring out the recessed details and kinda darken it down a but. I was told acrylic wash but the Clearcoat I used to seal and protect the silver is to smoothed that the wash isnt really sticking to it. Do I just need to use less water with the black acrylic? Or is there something else I can use?

Have you tried using artist oils?

Hit the surface of the armor with 0000 steel wool and this should cause enough abrasion on the surface to take the washes you are trying to apply.
