Convert Boba helmet into Madalorian???

Hi all,

Long time since I've been on here but the Mandalorian has sparked my interest again. So, I still have one of my old casts of the Fett helmet I scratch built back in 2007 and thought about remodelling it to the Mandalorian lid. I can do the cheek areas, realign the mandibles, ears and the rear sections without any issues but I am not sure the dome is the same profile. Any thoughts? Attached photos are only for reference obviously.

Id say no. Would require too much work and isnt the same at all.

Honestly, I think the top half look of the helmets look similar. I haven’t really looked at a Fett helmet as much as the Mandalorian one. The frontal dome area looks to be a similar profile. I kinda feel this needs a lot overhauled on it. Narrowing the “T” visor slot. More rigid/defined cheek lines. Remodeled ears & the the bands over the middle of the helmet and thin bead above the visor slot. Is it worthwhile hacking up a Fett helmet? Sure you can do anything if you put the time into it...

Agreed. I think I can easily adjust the Fett lid to suit. The mandibles will need adjusting to suit the amended cheeks and that will probably be the most difficult piece but well within my skills. I was just concerned about the dome profile but think I'll take a chance on it being similar

Okay will keep an eye on this thread. Please post progress pics/posts as you work thru it. I’m interested in making a Mandalorian helmet myself but need a starting point!

So decided to start again from scratch. Here is the progress so far. Lots of filling and sanding before I go further as the plastic I've used doesn't look nice up close even after sanding. Hopefully a few good coats of filler primer and sanding will wort that out. Next week I'll make a start on the crown and ears.

Another cheap option would be to buy a B Cast Mando helmet from MinuteFett for about $100. Here is the one I'm working on for my son - rattle canned.
