Old member, new name...& restrictions haha

MetalMerc

New Hunter
Hi all, I was formerly a member here that went by Jango_Kast. Between my negligence to stay with the times here at TDH and changing emails, etc. I can't find out how to get in under my old name. No matter, though! I'm back and finally have the means (mostly, anyway) and motivation to start a project!

After much lurking and research, I'm really leaning towards a custom Mando, complete with backstory! The research part of this has much to do with my username. I'm fairly confident (using some genius templates from a couple of well known gurus here), I can begin construction on a metal bucket. Still ironing out some aesthetics (I've seen some REALLY neat customs here!), but I think it's possible. I'm also considering metal armor, as I have plenty of sheet metal lying around. I may try a WIP thread as I get underway, I'd LOVE some opinions, but overall, I'm glad to be here!

Before I get under way on my Mando, might anyone out there know some finer points of metalworking? I'm considering building a DIY English wheel (thanks to google magic) and was wondering if it would be handy or more hassle than it's worth with this endeavor?

Thanks for having me here! Looking forward to contributing however I can!

Also....forgot to mention (and haven't filled out my profile yet), I'm "calling" from southeastern Ohio. Cheers to my fellow Appalachians haha.

...guess I could've went with "MountainMerc" as well.

So I think I figured my way around welding and filling (and failing) @ my dome for my helmet. $18 on eBay! Almost hate to hack it up, but it is pretty battered. The only reason I post this here; this is my first step into a much larger world...

As you can see it has a crack (or two) that I'll need to deal with, and it's got some minor pitting, but I'm honestly debating on what to leave and what to cover up. I'm going to sandblast it at work tomorrow to get the rest of the rust and leftover paint.
Also debating on where to cut it (eventually) to get the right "dome". But by then I should have a WIP thread. Anyway, my intro is pretty well over!
