First I would like to say thank you to all the others that have done this same thing with their Jango rigs. The names that come to mind are Jango5240 and Cruzer, but I am sure there are others. I am not claiming I invented this, and others can add their advice too. I am just starting a dedicated thread because I was asked to show how I put my rig together.
Here is what you will need:
7 Chicago screws (length depends on what armor and leather pieces you have)
You can find the Chicago screws at Tandy Leather, but I have seen them at other places like ACE Hardware.
First, I wanted to make sure that the ammo pouches wouldn’t slide out of place and that the ammo belt was connected to the girth belt, so I put one Chicago screw through the two outer pouches and one through the middle pouch. I hid these by putting them directly behind the middle of each pouch, through the strap that holds the pouch on the belt and then through the belt itself.
The Chicago screw in the middle pouch was longer than the outer two since I put it also through the Girth belt and the belt of the Holsters. This made the Ammo belt, Girth belt, and Holsters effectively connected, but I wanted to connect the Cod armor and Thigh armor as well.
This is how I got the Cod armor connected. I used two Chicago screws to do this. The first was all the way through the Girth belt and through the Cod armor just below the screw I installed in the above step. This screw will be hidden since it is directly behind the middle ammo pouch.
The other screw was through the middle D shaped piece of the Holsters. I hid this screw by un-doing the leather piece from the d-ring at one side. I could then slide the leather out the other side. I made a hole from the backside of the D shaped piece and put the long side of the screw in before sliding the leather piece back in and re-attaching the d-ring.
To attach the thigh armor I removed the Chicago screw that was already placed there. I did this so that I could replace it with a longer one that would go through to the Thigh armor.
That is how I did it. There might be easier or better ways to do it, but this has worked for me so far. I hope this helps. If you have any questions I can try to clear up anything that might not have been explained well.
