I had a little bit of inspiration. The one on the left is a BKBT and the one on the right is a Juddz Dweed kid's helmet. My goal was to build something that fell right between the two. It still needs more work
lol, yes. I'd say it's an ideal size for an average sized 8-10 year old. If I had your screen cast helmet it would be to the immediate right of the BKBT, but this one is still smaller than the Rubies latex delux that I have. It's a chopped up Pre Viszla helmet, so I still need to reduce the large cheek areas. It's being made to have a movable aluminum rf stalk and will be molded for reproduction. I'm basically making it for the son of a friend.
Nice work Cruzer, as always Really, this helmet looks really clean and nice, specially for a kid who is going to love it when he has it on his head :wacko
lol...more like a "super" cute little "fem-mando"! It's too small in my opinion for a small adult female, especially since this helmet is smaller than a Rubies deluxe (there's an oxymoron).
A little more progress on this thing. I was able to rework the cheeks, and after about 2-3 attempts I'm finally satisfied with them. I also began carving out the triangles, and once those are done, I'll attach the ear pieces and begin prepping it for molding.
The Royal Blue is on. I'm painting this helmet exactly like I paint adult sized ones. First I masked off all of the parts that were going to remain silver, then I lightly sanded the exposed areas with 320 grit paper that had been worn down somewhat with prior use. Lastly, I gave all of the exposed areas a good coat of Royal Blue. I'll give it about 5-6 days to dry before masking off the parts that will remain dark blue.
Thanks, but there are many guys on here whose skills surpass mine...especially the Boba experts.
Here's the final product with removable visor and movable aluminum stalk. Now it's just waiting for its little owner to come get it. I'll be sure to take some pics when he picks it up.
