    Oct 8, 2007, 4:47 AM - First Time Jango Paint up! #1

A friend of mine int he out post wanted to repaint his Jango. It's a BKBT (nice helmet!) I had him strip it down, sand and wet sand it. I then took over, I but down the black primet yesterday and I today I wetsanded and sanded down to 800 grit then masked off and layed down the blues. I did make one mistake of painting the key slots Ocean blue, I wil fix that in the moring.

Looks good! Can't wait to get my helmet painted up!

Did you use the silver rub n buff ? It looks a little dark (which could be lighting).

I think that the black primer might have affected the colour of the RnB as it came out, but I love the blue colours used! It glows like the freakin' sun!

Actualy I have not laid down the silver yet. That is just the black primer that has been sanded down to 800 grit. I am expexting to get and excellent silver shine off of the dome. It will go on today!

On the paint it is Krylon Black primer, its really thinso you do lots of coats. The primary blue is the Kylon Accents Ocean blue.

Now I sprayed on the silver leaf, Put on your sunglasses!! This in not Rub'n Buff!

The streak in the dome is an orange extention cord on the celing that is being reflected!

A few little things to clean up, but I am happy. Can you see me in the photos?

What is the brand and name of that silver leaf, and what type of primer did you use?

Honestly, I think it is too reflective. If you ever do another Jango paint job I would suggest sticking with RnB, as it consistently yields better results than anything except cold cast IMO.

look nice but i have to agree...I dont remember Jango being quite that reflective. I plan to use the rub and buff and some weathering techniques on my helmet. I always thought he had a more brushed aluminum looking armor as apposed to a chome cylon approach...but it does look nice on the bucket and maybe with the right weathering it may tone it down and look right. I would suggest using a better masking medium however next time as you can see a lot of bleed through around the edges...picky i know but just an observation.
