Feb 9, 2015, 1:24 PM - What is the best adhesive to use on my Don Post ? #1

Ok, please don't be too brutal. Im new and have been looking around the Dented Helmet for a couple months. I recently purchased my first Boba helmet and it is a Don Post 2002 Rubies with 3 cracks in it. Id like to repair the cracks with some sort of cement adhesive thats flexible if at all possible. Then I'd like to sand, prime and paint the helmet. I really could use some help with the repair and what are the best products to use for all of this. thank you in advance.Click image for larger version.

Before you choose the adhesive route, I think you should evaluate what you ultimately want from the helmet. There will be a ton of work required on this helmet to get it looking good. There appears to be quality issues with the helmet you have (I am specifically looking at the left ear which looks bent almost). Sanding, priming, and painting this thing on a helmet that is already slightly disfigured might not give you the results you ultimately want. If your end goal is to have a helmet you can be proud of, I really don't see how you can make this into that helmet without putting way more work into it than it deserves. It would be far better for you to get a more accurate helmet and do the painting, sanding, etc on that helmet yourself in my opinion. The only one that can answer this is you however.

I asked a bunch of questions recently on what glues to use for fixing some guantlet issues I have (http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/n...-advice-51734/). The recommendations were to use a 2 part epoxy with a few suggestions (JB Weld and Loctite). View my thread for more glue suggestions.

I hope this helps...the real thing to ask yourself is what YOU want from this and what YOUR goals are for the helmet. Maybe you just want to take this on as a challenge to see what you can do with it...only you can answer this question.

@crumdum i really appreciate your advice and I completely agree that this is not the right helmet to start an elaborate project with. But it is the perfect helmet for my first time project and kick around sorta helmet. I don't plan on making it an accurate helmet. Also the left ear is bent however I've learned the vinyl can be molded to my liking with a lil heat. I actually plan on get the dented helmet v2 or something of that liking once i feel I have the abilities to take on a $200+ dollar project. I honestly only plan on glueing, bonding, sanding, priming, painting, replacing the visor and calling it a day on this one.
