Superjedi's FPH2 for Slynger

Aaaaaand. . . here we go again.

I took a few days off after finishing rnbuda's helmet, and now I'm beginning a brand new, fresh, shiny FPH2 kit for member Slynger!
It's another of Wasteland's helmet kits, and it's very clean and well made. (y)

I've gotten the tedious prep finished and I just got done washing the helmet and accessories. Everything is drying now and I'll be
getting it into primer sometime late this afternoon or early tomorrow. Depends on the temperature here.

Here's a closer look at the accessories. Not shown are the visor and MQ-1 insert.

Glad I got the prep finished up this morning as I'm going back for my second viewing of Rogue One around noon! Seeing it in 3D today. :)

Merry Christmas, all you Fett heads! :)
Here's a quick update for the helmet. I actually snuck in some airbrush time today.

I had gotten the helmet in primer yesterday since it was warm enough in the garage. Cold/heat or humidity extremes can
do weird things to paint, so I'm very conscious of the temps in winter or summer.

Today everything was nice and dry so I shot the base color on the rear panels. This is Polly Scale Concrete.

I also worked on the ears. I epoxied some attachment bolts to the flat faces and got them in primer as well.
During the week I'll be able to begin stenciling and masking the rear panels for the dark green.

Great background framing on all these shots :)

And yeah, weather dependent painting is a pain. Paint booths really really make life easier there, but finding a good fume extraction solution is an even bigger headache.

You're not finished yet?

Geez, you sound like Dom now!

Been busy at work but I'm making some headway on the rear panels. I got everything masked and airbrushed on the dark green.
I've gone back and tweaked the edges of the damage patterns on the left panel, and added some variation in the density of the green.
I do this using a small brush and directly apply more paint in certain areas, and drybrush others.

Here's a little closer look.

I've done a little tweaking of the shapes already on the right panel. I'll continue with that during the next couple of days.

Lol. Thanks :)
I do most of my posting from my laptop. Sometimes when I get on TDH on my cell it tries to change what I type to the silliest things.
Crazy technology...

OK, carrying on! :)

I got the left panel done tonight.

Did the gray and silver with my fine brushes, and added some physical scratches as well. Here's a closer shot.

The eyeball-killing right panel is next, LOL.

Glad you're enjoying it so far. :)

This will be my last update for 2016! Where did this year go. . . sheesh.

I got the large scrape done on the right panel. I did this over several sessions as there is a ton of tiny detail to nail down.
I still have to do 2 or 3 very small areas with the dark green, but those will only take a few minutes.

When I do this area, I stencil it, then lay in a lot of the (relatively) larger gray chips before I apply the silver. This gives me some
landmarks to use when I go back and finish up all the really small chips and scratches.

When the helmet is tilted, the silver really shines.

I'm always happy to get this section finished, LOL. I feel like it's a milestone of sorts, even though overall it's not a large area.
I'll work on the remaining portions of the right panel next. I still have tomorrow and Monday off from work, so I'm hoping to get
the panel completely done so I can lay down the base green for the dome and cheeks.

I hope everyone has a great New Years Eve! Stay safe and have fun. :) See you all in 2017.
