ROTJ Bucket now COMPLETE...
Well alright… I think this just about wraps this project up once and for all. Here are the latest and FINAL pics
of the ROTJ bucket…
Anyone that’s done their homework on this particular helmet will already know that the real ROTJ features a flare
in the T-visor mandible position as significant as the signature trait of the outer flare on the real ESB
bucket. This helmet was produced to come as close as possible to recreate the screen worn helmet.
I would consider this an ROTJ “purists” helmet (you know who you are!) because every last detail has been made to
capture the look of the real thing. Some may love this, some may not, but the people looking for the most accurate
ROTJ helmet to date should have fallen out of their chairs by now! Lets give them a second to sit back up…
OK, on to some details…
The ear caps were produced in cold cast aluminum. The cold casting process adds real aluminum in micron mesh
form that’s dusted into the molds. Then the molds are back filled with a 50/50 ratio aluminum powder resin mix.
The outcome once buffed and polished is a perfect metal finish. The stalk is also done the same way but
also features a solid aluminum reinforcement within.
The rage finder top has also been done accurately to the ROTJ as well. NOTE the 3 lines in the clear portion
of the RF underside.
The bucket itself is white gel-coat fiberglass.
KEEP IN MIND… In these particular pictures that are outlining the scratch detail in close-up, it does
distort the size and shape of the scars in proportion to the size of the helmet. You can see in the full helmet
pics that the hand etched scars are much more subtle in appearance. This is still a raw and unpainted bucket.
Once painted however, it will give the appearance of accurate screen worn damage.
