RF Servo Unit *ANY MORE INTEREST?*

Hi

Is there still a chance of getting in on this?
If so I would like a Wired, AA, No LED, switch wire made if this is possible.

Already got it installed! Even my hubby was impressed by it (this is a huge deal!!!) He even asked shy don't I keep the helmet for him- told him I would if he'd let me make him a costume- well, guess he didn't want it that bad but I'm making progress. Any how, it looks totally cool and was pretty easy to do- I'll be all set to do another when I get a smaller helmet.

**Edit**

Here's the pics of how it was installed:

Nice Job Mirax!

I hope the instructions were useful. Sorry there were no pictures. I had wanted to do pictures, but I did the instructions at work and it was a toss up as to whether I waste another day getting pics and putting them in the sheet, or ship them there and then.

I figured most people would want them sooner.

Glad my pics from further up the thread were useful.

DPR, sorry about the servo. My head fits in my dp97 with it in. It touches my ear, but does fit.

Glad you like it other than that hiccup

Mirax, awesome video and good job on it! Now I can't wait to get one of those! :love:thumbsup:

Si, is there a way that we could get a smaller servo, in case the one shipped is too big for the small helmets (or perhaps for people with big heads)? There's a post here that says about the compatibility issues and solutions with other servos and the one you offer.

So far, I really love it!

Thanks gang. Yeah, the pictures from this thread were a big help! It actually was pretty easy to install. I agree, the servo is a little big, even as huge as my helmet is, it does stick out a bit- I can see where it would be a problem in a small bucket.

Thanks again HH, I found a servo smaller than the one supplied, and is mounted and works GR8!!!!
the only prob now is the staring point is the opposite of the one you sent( starts down). I had to get a switcher from a local RC hobby shop, but all works well.
Id like to take a small video of it, anyone host video ???
Im gonna PM MiraX to see if shell host one so you can see the final deal

thanks again

Frank,

Glad to hear it all worked out, DPR.

The TDH image hosting service supports video (it worked for my AVI clips at the top of this thread anyway).

I look forward to seeing them.

Hey MiraX,

How did you apply the servo circle to the RF, I seem to be having a problem with mine popping off. I Have a RA aluminum RF and the holes are reallllly big ( RA mounted it with a big kingpin) im using rubber cement ,but after a few ups n downs it starts to break off. Any suggestions ?????

thanks

Well, I sanded the circle so it had a nice flat surface. My RF arm was fiberglass, so I used an epoxy for plastic and it worked great. But the sanding was the important part.

Im gonna look for some industrial epoxy today, the rubber cement just isnt holding. And Ive sanded the aluminum RF to Death heh heh. Maybe plastic to metal needs tougher bonding materials ...........dunno ?????

Oh, I mean the plastic circle is what I sanded- the piece that was part of the servo. It had a little raised piece in the center of it that prevented it from being flush with the rangefinder. However, I agree you need something better than rubber cement.

I found some epoxy, some super duper potent stuff that was full strength in about an hour, that thing aint movin nooooooooowhere. Everything looks golden and in working order,
so I should have a vid of it sometime soon.

DPR - Nice looking set up! looking forward to the vid!

PV - where have you been :facepalm this thread has been up for 2 months!

They are still available. The guy is just jacking up a page on his website that you can order through. He has said he'll try to keep the prices the same as they are here, but they may go up a bit as it's easier and cheaper for him to work in runs of at least 5.

Alternatively, if there are 5 or more people interested, I'd be happy to arrange another run.

I've spoken to the guy about doing them without servos and he can do this. He gets the servos pretty cheap ($10) so this is how much the price drops if you want to use your own. You have to be aware that servos can be different and wired up a different way etc. The ones this guy uses are standard Futaba S3003 servos you might find in a RC car for the steering or speed controller, etc. Check with your hobbyshop to see if yours is compatible.

Prices (based on above - runs of 5 or more):

Wired version with servo inc shipping - $78
wired version w/out servo - $68

Wireless version with servo inc shipping - $146
Wireless version w/out servo inc shipping - $136

Add $5 if you want the RF led's as well

One he has finished his web page, I'll post a link. The prices may be a bit higher.

Any one else interested?

Si
