alternative material for the "ears"

so I am building a cardboard helmet and I am trying to think of a thicker material to use to make the ears, especially for the left one since it is more basic.

does anyone have any suggestions?

I have some left over blue insulation board from making a mountain for my model train layout and that might be the way to go for the left one since it is easy to shape.

Just checking in to see what anyone else has used.

You could try sculpting the ears with blue foam (or similar material that sculpts easy) and layer it with bondo or something to seal said foam and give a hard exterior. If you're really worried about them holding up I recoment sticking either a wooden or metal rod inside the foam before you put on the bondo as a support. Make sure to have some sort of mask on to keep from breathing in the fumes of the foam.

other than that I'm unsure. I know some people make metal ears here on the forums. You could either try your hand at welding or order a set from one of the vendors (though they aren't too easy on the wallet).

Hope this helps.
