Accurate Fett ears- Finally

Hey I have had several requests for folks to reproduce these and I would appreciate you not recasting these or using the measures to miraculously make new and improved ears. If accurate ears start hitting the market well call how you see it but these are one offs the originals so making your own from these measures in effect is racasting in my book. Since no one new anything about these until we let it out and it's not fair to folks who paid for these as well.

Also the orders are going out no worries folks on that post about a damaged box was ours and it was 4 gallons of resin so we had about a 1 weeks delay but the next shipment is going Friday and that will put us around the halfway done on the orders.

Got my 2 sets today :D Amazingly sharp! I cant wait to get them home to test them on my bucket. Tutorial to follow in the next few weeks for converting a Sgt Fang to use these ears. :D

Got my ears today. Great Job Lee and SingleSeat!!!(y) (y) (y)

Oh, and those wanting to know if these will fit the Bobamaker helmet. LIKE A GLOVE!. The measurements of the ears on the BM helmet are almost IDENTICAL to these. Major props to DAZ for getting it THAT close without having the actual LFL Prop to go from. The Right Ear matches up perfect in measurements. You won't even have to reshape the base for the RF Housing and Cap. The RS left ear is about 1/8" wider and 3/16" taller than the one on the BM bucket but it will still fit.

Thanks for doing these! :cheers

Now what you could do is make an "ear display system" so people can show off these excellent ears!
Something that's. . . oh, I dunno. . . kind of helmet-shaped or something? You must have something sitting around that's helmet-shaped that you could mold up?? Hmmm??? Hmmm???

 ;)

Just idly curious if there's any response to this. :)

I took some comparison pics of the new ears to the old sgtfang ears. I have to say Sgt Fang did a damn good job as they are very very close with the ear cap the only piece showing the biggest difference. I'll upload them when I get home tonight.

That's because Sarge didn't do the ears on the Mystery Helmet; they were cast in from the original. The ear cap was the piece he provided.

Well, as the thread started, these are marketed as "accurate" ears. The MS1 and SgtFang ears (identical) are similar in a lot of ways to these ears, but from my perspective, are miles apart.

I don't mean this as a "let's drag the MS1/Fang ears through the mud session" but merely a quick snapshot of why these ears can stand to be upgraded to a more accurate PP2 origin.

The MS1/Fang left ear is most similar yet it is shorter by a mm or two. The right lower ear is not as wide by a mm or three. Of course the MS1/Fang right upper ear pieces are shorter and narrower, but Tyler Durden already addressed that. And it's also obvious that BM tried to address that in his helmet as well. Yet in other cases the MS1/Fang ears are only suffering from distortions in the cast that cause inconsistent thicknesses of some dimensions or lines that aren't exactly straight – along with rounded corners where there shouldn't be. Not to mention the MS1/Fang un-even three-hole signature.

But if I've observed anything with these pieces, it is how much difference a millimeter can make.

I was pretty sure the ears were gonna be similar... I was going to do a comparison to simply show the differences between them, which single seat has pointed out. Now I am not going to bother as I assume no one cares.
