I'm actually very surprised there isn't more info about it here considering the fact that, according to Facebook, "there was assistance from a number of members from TDH" in making this.

The Jango bust came out looking pretty good, minus the hefty $800 price tag

I agree, the Jango bust is nice, but the Darth Vader is way better. The level of detail on itis awesome, too bad its $1200.

the Jango is not even a screen accurate helmet, it has a wrong ear and RF on it.......and there is no gap between the shoulder and back armor.

I bet they will not be cheap. It would be awesome if SS would do more than a 4 payment plan for them, but I am sure they won't.

I'll be able to confirm it at SDCC Mullreel but I'm almost certain they just used the Boba helmet for Jango.

    Re: Sideshow Life-Size Fett

The full size Fett looks ridiculous. I know it's a prototype but the armor is way too small and the mannequin looks too skinny. The jango bust could be made by most people on this drum in a few days and come out better IMO. I know that sideshow will never come close to the detail we all aspire to but ****, just visit this site and get a little more info on a product you intend to distribute for thousands of dollars.

I dont think the armor is too small, just a few small areas arent the right ratios I think. The FP V3 armor even though it looks very good, is a bit large. The FP V2 was better in size but needed a bit more shape to it IMO.
I think the sideshow armor is fine. Something just doesnt sit well with me about the overall look. Maybe the pose? Still, I think its an excellent effort and succeeds in accuracy where some fan suits miss it. Some members have done good work on it!

I hope to be shocked. I'm the first to admit when I'm wrong,I just wish ss wouldn't release photos until the work us done. Look what they did with the boba fett bust, they release pictures with the pinched visor then produce it with the proper corrections. That's one good thing shout the company, they sometimes listen to criticism. I hope this folk size fett looks awesome although I won't be able to afford one either way.

Thanks Keegan..... And as fett for real said, there were a number of people involved from TDH. Tom Spina Designs headed the project. But yes thats a good ole' Spideyfett paint job, and a Darthmiller assembly.

    Thanks to everyone involved.

    Re: Sideshow Life-Size Fett

    Hey guys,

Glad folks are liking this one! A little more detailed breakdown of the credits...

Chris Jones created the body and armor. Rich Krusell created the boots (and wore them while Brian Lewis and I molded his feet!). Brian, Mike Thomas, Patrick Louie, Melissa Dooley and myself refined the parts for production and created some of the accessories, the scalps, cape, etc. Mike Mason provided masters for the blasters. Christian Hill provided the jetpack. Tony Turner and Kitty Hebert tackled the soft goods and belts. Richard Riley was our inspiration for the base design. Alex Alva, Jason Miller and the "New Wookiee Workshop" did the final assembly and paint... and Art was a huge help in the reference department.

And of course all of this was with input from LFL and the incredible design team at Sideshow Collectibles.

Art will soon be posting up a news item with a little more info (and hopefully more pics from the floor!). This was a tremendous effort involving quite a number of people and I couldn't be more proud of the first proto which is now on display SDCC!

    Thanks again to all involved!

    best,
    Tom

Whoever did the vest and neckseal has come much much closer than anybody ever has to getting it right. Is that done by a TDH member?

Lufo1138, no, this will not be a wearable piece (per Sideshow's license with LFL).

I can't divulge any trade secrets on Sideshow's part, but I will say their intent is to match this paint as best they can for a licensed, mass produced piece. They've worked with us very closely throughout with production as a consideration and we're providing them with a lot of material to help in that process. I have a lot of confidence in what they can do! Their team is just amazing.

The vest and neck seal were fabricated by Anthony Turner (not a TDH member but a pro tailor) and it was based on my notes/design work. We went through several revisions to really nail that down. Glad you like it!

    Tom

I just realized I missed this one. For obvious reasons, I'd rather not get into the minutia of our contracts and well, no offense intended, of course, but I feel that the thread about the release of an officially licensed product probably isn't the place to discuss buying parts.

Thanks again for the kind words!

This project was an amazing experience. One to remember for a lifetime ! HUGE thanks to Tom for bringing me aboard on this ! And of course, I would have never had the opportunity if not for Art Andrews and The Dented Helmet. This marks my own personal best, and a shining example of what so much collective talent can achieve with one common goal ! Each and every person involved worked their A$$'s off. Everyone should be proud as hell. It came out BEAUTIFUL guys !

Thanks Keegan, there are some new approaches we took to try and finalize all the correct colors/paints.. I for one think we came close. There will be a great committment from Sideshow to ensure they can replicate Every scrath exactly. It's pretty exciting but the production version should be just as great as the prototype.

Dave Myatt took all of those amazing shots for Rebelscum.com...indeed, Great pics!

So what do you think about the finished product?

That's one good thing shout the company, they sometimes listen to criticism. I hope this folk size fett looks awesome although I won't be able to afford one either way.

Well, to be realistic it's not a finished product. The display is certainly impressive in every aspect. Sideshow is a great company but there are limitations to a mass produced piece. We haven't seen those limitations yet.

So what makes this "non-wearable"? Looks like if you just add some padding in the helmet it'd pretty much be good to go, no? If it goes on a mannequin, why wouldn't it go on a person? Or am I being a bit slow here and not getting the finer points of legal speak?

For one, I think the feet are moulded solid plastic. Not that that would stop you from just getting a pair of your own boots. But it could of course be more things that are solid.

I bet everything is glued on and you'd destroy a lot of the parts by trying to get them off.

No, almost each piece of armor has pegs with very strong magnets attached to lock each piece into the body of the mannequin. Actually, the helmet is about the only piece you could somewhat wear if you wanted to.

    Hey all,

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but regarding wearability, it's my understanding that is something that could potentially violate certain licenses with Lucasfilm, so this was always designed as a statue, not a wearable costume in any way.

I can also confirm that the current design of the helmet does not allow wearability (in order to achieve the pose ability it requires changes that don't allow it to be wearable) and the feet will likely be solid (they are on the prototype).

Assuming the reversible knees feature (which I love!) makes it through production, the only pieces that would potentially have magnets will be the knees and the chest panel with the LED (for battery access), possibly the thumbs for blaster assembly, depending how they do the final production of it. Every other piece will be a permanent part of the statue via blocks/keys that lock each element to the body form below.

    Hope that is some help!

    best,
    Tom

Looks like I'll be selling a a kidney or two to get one of these. I hope that they aren't too expensive and if they are there will be a payment plan. I want one. Or do I want a HIC? Argh why can't I be rich.

It looks good guys, should be proud to be able to make and display such a great piece for anyone to have. I'm curious how much one of these bad boys will run and since its Sideshow, if the prototype will match the production quality.

    Anytime, love that stuff too.

Here is one of my favorite pics taken.. to me it shows the depth in which I painted all the armor pieces for this version. IMO prob the best ESB I've painted to date.

I will take you up on that one of these days real soon. I also found this selection of pics on Rebelscum.com of just the lid Rebelscum.com: San Diego Comic Con 2012. I think this shows quite well how this piece will not be wearable.

    Alex,

What an amazing job you did with the paint scheme...Always preferred more of the topical technique when it comes to realism and you nailed it! Would of preferred a smoother LEFT gauntlet design rather than the ridged version used but it's certainly a jewel of a statue. Any Jetpack angles?

    Congrats man!

Ha Ha! These weren't suppose to be posted!!... oh well, thanks to Dave Myatt at Rebelscum.com.
And please keep in mind that everything is still in a "prototype" stage... so what you see on the inside is not at a production level just yet.

Thanks Christian, so glad that you were included in this project, you really came through with an amazing pack. I do have additional pics of the pack from the studio, I will see if I can get permission to post them. PM Me.

The scope on the blaster has a few things wrong with it: Rear bell looks wrong shape (diameter transition too sharp), windage unit too far forward and front scope ring is the wrong way round.

Just one minor detail point: on the right ear, there are 10 small vertical stripes. Should be 9.

    Re: Sideshow Life-Size Fett

Been gone a long, long time - been trooping in my Bobamaker Fett since joining the Legion after being recruited from here, but I wanted to congratulate you guys on this and I had a question...some of the wording calls it a Boba Fett Life-sized Figure. Others statue. It had me thinking and wondering if it was posable or basically the whole thing is stiff with the exception of the helmet on a ball rotation?
Honestly, a figure would make it more than worth it. It would be pretty sick.

    Again, gratis to TDH!

Chucky, the initial Sideshow teaser pic was taken by me, and we were all very shocked when it was released when they did, as it was just an update pic that I was required to send them. And with my horrible photography skills it was never meant to be seen as anything more than an "In Progress" pic. Trust me, if I would have known they were going to tease it, I would have taken better pictures. Ha Ha!
As you can see the final product came out amazing.. and that's all that counts.

And as for the production version, I can assure you that there are steps being made to make the final retail/production version as close to the proto-type as possible, as we are still working with Sideshow throughout.
I'll say it again, I think everyone will be extremely surprised when the production version comes out, Sideshow definitely has raised the bar and wants to get it right...and with our help, they will.

Here's another great pic from a few friends at Kotaku:
