The mount molds are done. Theres good news and bad news.
One side comes out perfect every time with no cleaning. The opposite side has flashing and a few bubbles.
The shape of the mold, has 'air cavities in it'. While I can get rid of the big bubbles, small bubbles are virtually impossible to remove.
On other mounts, (ebay, sidewinder) that I have seen, they only have details on one side. One side is flat. Thats because they are poured as a basic block mold, and then a grinder/sander used to machine one side.
I can machine one side a little, to clear flashing, and clean them up quite a bit, however, there will be small bubbles that may or may not have to be filled in the pours.
It takes me 3 ish tries to get a 'pristine' one. If any of you have ever crafted in EQ2 or other games, youll find this amusing.
I cant post pics at the moment, as my ftp server is having troubles. But I will asap.
The other greebles are turning out well. And I expect to have this completed in the next day or so, but making a 'perfect' cast every time, at an affordable price, is probably out of the picture.
The bottom line, some filling will be required in order to make these look 'machined'.
I can pour them in the current molds (probably) to only have detail on one side, and grind them off. That is the other option.
