has anyone had any luck using the scuba gear for jetpack ?.... these look like they have the D rings already built in? the one on the left is $55 and the other is $100 some slight modifying seems like a good foundation

I spent about $35 on eBay for the actual KAM EZ and ended up junking the tank holder (kept the buckle of course, and the straps ;-) as it seemed too much mod work to make use of it. As it turned out, I got Bigdane's harness and it is so much better and designed for the task than anything I could have made from the scuba tank holder I am very glad and have never looked back.

I started with an actual scuba harness. Had a plastic shell similar to what you've shown. Had to scrap it as it was way too bulky to fit under the vest. Best to stick with the vendors here.

thanks guys thats what i needed to hear....ive sold so much blood at the blood clinic that im to weak to walk now....but i just need a few more dollars !!!! lmao

well the blood clinic said i wasnt tapped out yet so i was able to sell some more blood...woohoo!! bigdane here i come
ps anyone know where i can score that almighty jetpack to place on my soon to get harness?

What I have learned on the astromech forum, is that the technology and what was available in the 70's, 80's was then. Today has better material, light weight, and easier to work with. So the club guys that create the replacement props are so much better for the costumer to wear forever. It is nice to have original pieces but what is available will make trooping so much more comfortable.

MOW sells them and so does Darth Voorhees. Darth Voorhees has a thread in the cargo hold to get on the list for a pack kit but hes already booked up to around October. MOW can be contacted through here or on ebay.

Well here is the sad reality.....darth voorhees is done for the summer(i just missed out on that ).....mow last time i checked was out of JPs....and i just missed getting in on bigdanes harness list (not that it matters since i do not have a pack).....so hows yalls week been so far????

Thats the exact reason I got into 3D printing. I'm making my jet pack out of Nylon with minimal fill on the inside, making this whole pack with no more than a few pounds. My spine got screwed up in the Army carrying 80lb packs all over the place... I'm not looking to repeat that lol.

Yea I missed out on DVH to but I was on a run for a Bigdane harness a few months ago. So I have a harness and all the mounting for the jp but no jp lol. Bigdane is going to open up another run next month though so keep an eye on the thread or pm him about being interested. I'm sure he'd be able to work something out. Since I cant get a jp yet im going to just focus on getting other parts and be patient unfortunately lol.

yep thats the plan! to hurry up and wait......................for the next list lol
As far as 3d printing i just havent figured out where i stand with that process... im a fabricator true and through !!
as you can see(my avatar) is a xwing fighter mail box that i made..u just caint 3d print stuff like that. I guess what im trying to say is it feels like a easy way out of fabricating some thing by hand. I get the technology its very awesome !! Have you ever taken a moment and looked at all the cool stuff that the star wars prop makers used to create all the wonders that we hold true and dear!!! dental equipment-joe brown climbing helmet-race car bodies-flair guns-spear guns-jet engine parts-model kits- Ect...the list goes on //none of that stuff was 3d. It was all real stuff just modified with truely imaginative minds.

Couldn't a jet pack harness be made pretty easily out of copper pipe and some rivets? I'm certain I saw a tutorial around here. Maybe in a WIP. Looked like a 60-minute project.

sounds logical enough....some of the thinner tubing should be able to be bent fairly easily i would think
