Hi everyone!

I have literally just joined 10 minutes ago, and I am a bit overwhelmed by all of the posts. (I'm not too savvy with forums).

I have always wanted to make a Boba Fett outfit, and I feel as though this is the right place.

My question is, how does it work? Do we buy pieces from different people? Are those pieces all completed where we just have to buy all of the pieces to create a completed suit, or do I have to buy moulds, paint them, etc.?

Are there specific vendors that are reputable amongst others?

I'm sorry for the intro full of questions, and I know it does make it look as though I haven't even had a look through the posts yet, but trust me I have tried haha.

Anyway, I hope to hear from you all, and hopefully I can share with you my journey into making the costume that I have always wanted. Thanking you in advance for all of your advice and any information you feel necessary for me to know!

Cheers,
Daniel

Hey Daniel, I'm new too. All I can say is just jump in. Obviously there are thousands of threads to go through. Like you, I'm a bit overwhelmed. I would suggest starting with the stickys. From there I would pick which elements you feel comfortable with tackling first (armor, helmet, soft gear and such) A great site to check out real quick is TK-409. Has lots of vendor suggestions and such. There are a lot on here to for parts and elements. One thing to keep in mind is time. ... Meaning, it will take you time to get a feel for this forum. It is awesome, with lots of caveats. But if your thinking its a flea market, well, not so much. It's more about a passion for creating, searching, and identifying screen accurate elements that make up the Fett. But, it's not a come buy and see u later place. It's an exclusive community of passionate fans. From what I've seen you have to build trust if you hope to be fully allowed 'in'. ... Hope I made some sense, I'm still trying to adjust myself!... I say enjoy the ride, and enjoy learning, creating and appreciating.

Welcome Daniel! Spend some more time browsing the forums and digging through threads and you'll be up to speed in no time. The members here are very helpful and will always give you good advice. You might find it helpful to first pin down exactly what you want to accomplish. That means deciding which Fett you're after (ESB, ROTJ, Pre Pro, etc), what your budget is, your timetable, things like that. How you want to do things is entirely up to you. Just don't make any impulse purchases. You'll be fine.

Like what Matt said, pick which Boba you want to build. I spent a while in the gallery section trying to decide on which version I wanted to start. Its nothing to rush.

There's a sticky thread on here that I suggest examining - in which it goes over a estimation of how much you'd be spending. I'm on mobile and I would paste it but I can't. But if you go the route of scratch building EVERYTHING, it obviously won't be that much. I say that because most of my build is second hand from the Cargo Hold or from vendors. I prefer buying from vendors because it feels nice to get a good product that looks great - in addition to supporting their goal to provide resources for all Fetts on here.

I also suggest staying away from eBay unless they're a well respected seller, such as: Man of War ( MOW/Chris), Molon Abe Studios (MLS), and Mojo Fett. I'm sure there's a couple more but I named the ones I know that operate on eBay but are part of the TDH community and have experience with.

But other than that, welcome to the forums and feel free to post or pm any of us if you need guidance. We are a strong community with a strong passion for the Fett and Star Wars. You're in the right place

Lots of research and looking at other peoples build threads is key.

A great place to start is the flightsuit. You have Arkady, Man Of War, and Loanstar. These are generally the people to go to for this item (although there are others). Loanstar is in Germany, and makes a really nice product, for a slightly premium price. Arkady custom sews a lot of the soft parts, so you may get a package deal if you include hip pouches, and a vest/neck seal. Man Of War makes a 2 piece suit that is pretty comfortable but not screen accurate, although you would never be able to tell. As well, you'd have to dye the MOW suit the appropriate color yourself.

You can reach Arkady and Loanstar here by sending them a PM or posting on their thread. Just do a search for their name and flightsuit in the thread name. Man Of War sells his wares on EBay

Thank you for all of your advice! I've started to get the hang of it all now, and I'm doing a bit of research on who does what here. Thanks for the flightsuit contacts :) They look like the go to people for sure!

Anyway, as I start doing more, hopefully I'll make a few more posts around here!

Hey Daniel, like the others say, time is everything in this hobby. I am building a ROTJ Fett which will hopefully completed this May after one and a half year build time.
As vendors for armor parts I would highly recommend Fettpride, RKD, Animefan (Helmet) and Bobamaker if you are located in Europe.
