Wow! Incredible work!

Thank you means a lot (y)

Ok so big update and this one got me grinning ear to ear, the second trooping helmet is done!

I have installed 2 fans, an amp with audio pic up so I can hear whats going on around me, range finder stalk servo and range finder lights.. I have the Aker voice mic also

First off is the sound amp, I found this online simple easy to use audio pic up, for only a couple of pound it is more than enough to hear the surrounding environment, I sat up stairs and got my partner to whisper down stairs and I could her it clear as day its fantastic for very little money...
20160111_073531_zpscudxhi9a.jpg

I stripped it down and put the mic in the range finder, now I have a directional microphone when the stalk is lowered :D:cool when its up top I get no feed back noises from my clothes rustling etc so its the perfect place

I solved the servo issue I had, it turns outt the little servo tester I am using don't work with digital servos so I got a 9g analogue one and worked right away, all I need do is fix it to the stalk good and tight and it's ready to go

I had to get the visor in now that all the electronics are in, I got some 3mm dark perspex and cut to shape

20160113_205443_zpsqcl9til9.jpg

now this stuff has very little flex and shatters if bent to much, I poured boiling water over it let it heat up a bit then bent it in to place and used hot glue to hold it down before it knew what happend to it....you will need 4 hands for this!!

here it is as it stands now in direct sunlight,

and a side by side of my first helmet that is on the left....(the one with the massive dent :rolleyes)

here is the mother of all electrics that fits in here

20160114_150447_zpsldgokdbn.jpg

everything has a connector on it for quick fast servicing if I have an issue with a fan or something and I can inter change it without needing to strip it all back,

I have a little video in the link below of the range finder working with the lights also.

Now this has been a lot of work, very intensive and a lot of planning, a few fails along the way but hope it can help someone who wants to do all this, in total it cost less than about £50 for all the parts mailed to my door

Thank you fellas, anything can be done its just time consuming, I have been making a folder documenting everything I have done and all the ideas I have implemented so far, so by the end of it I will have a document of ''How to make a Boba Fett outfit'' in the event I need to make another one or help others out with ideas (y)

Now I am still awaiting my order from Boba Maker, the last email I had was in December sayin my order will be ready early Jan....but still nothing. March is coming about to soon! :behave

I have done a bit of weathering on the boots and cape, this broke my heart to spray them Man Of War boots but it had to be done...

20160116_122730_zpsaohvcrtr.jpg

the final image is in pure bright direct sunlight, its always hard to get an accurate picture of something without seeing it your self but they are a bit darker than this in person..

its just a simple Matt 33 black burned most likely from the jet pack with a bit of sand 237 along the bottom for the dusty dune sand look

20160116_130023_zps9asaokwz.jpg

once dry I will get a better shot I think for contrast

I also done the cape again in black 33 and sand 237

a few close shaves there by the look of them holes!

I am on hold again with this build.... I am still shooting for March showcase at Swind-Con, however Boba Maker has gone off the grid and no longer replying to E-mails about my order for the soft parts?? it was meant to be ready in Dec, then I was told early Jan and now nothing? its almost Feb and I only have one month to get it finished :unsure It is now looking doubtful I will get it done, and the fact he wont reply to E-mails tells me something is wrong with the order or time frames and such, I am not ragging on the guy I know how much demand is placed on him but its been over 6 months now for some soft parts and armor plates..if there is a legit reason why its late and the lack of communication I wish he would just say so, that would make it so much clearer...well time will tell. I still have faith in the guy but I only have about 40 days as of this post to receive the goods and get it all fitted, painted, tested :confused

I have nothing much to add to the build as I have nothing to show right now, I have been fine tuning all the parts I do have with padding, new locks on the gauntlets, weathering and adding more detail to items, I have been testing the helmet with its cooling fans, range finder and audio pic up and so far its been great... can keep it on for an hour with no problems or over heating with continuous running of all the powered parts...

I do need a dental expander for my left gauntlet if anyone has one, the one I have don't look so good to me anymore, PM me if anyone has a cast or anything (y)

You're build is simply inspiring! I am a complete numpty at all this stuff. I wish I could borrow that resourceful brain of yours for my build! Lol! I ordered a helmet from Daz a few years back and there was a period where he broke his ankle and got behind with his orders. Also a bit of a lapse in communication but he came through in the end. I got a bit nervous as it was my first purchase for my build. Hopefully you get some news soon.
Can't wait too see how this all comes together! Keep up the good work!

Now, good news! Daz (BobaMaker) has been in touch and my items were mailed yesterday......if I could do a peanut butter jelly time dance emoji I would
hope they arrive soon it will be full on for the next 4 weeks to get this thing done!

I think I've commented on your build before, but it continues to inspire. I'm just starting to get everything together for my ROTJ, so this thread is a ton of help

Once again I am back to waiting for the mail man, Boba Maker sent out my parts, hopefully not long and I can get this done, am so close now Parcel Force webist has said ''Exported'' for the last 4 days, eaither its not actually on a plane or its coming by boat...meh hope not.

Mail man has been...

All V3 Boba Maker parts, this will finish off what I have started, I have so much work to do on this I can't begin to think about it.... to top it off I had a Facebook notification saying that on March 5th at Swindon's first con here in my how town Jeremy Bulloch will be attending!... since I met him last July in London that was when I decided to go the full distance and make up a Fett outfit I will meet him again but this time I will be Boba

Happy Chap right here :D

Ok so I have encountered a few issues with the second half of this, namely the jet pack harness I made from a template don't seem to fit under the Boba Maker back armor, it sticks out to much at the top forcing the plate to come away from my back, maybe with a few adjustments I can make it work but I haven't really looked into it yet...

What I have been doing is stitching.......lots and lots of stitching.... My Girlfriend bless her heart has been helping attaching snaps to the flak for me well I take care of everything else, its nice to have a partner that supports your dreams so Valentines day will be a banger for sure

To the pictures....

Simple one to start with, I need to run the power supply from range finder to the gauntlet,

20160205_162906_zpsdsh6digb.jpg

A simple eyelet with the wire sewn in on the inside..

20160205_163734_zpsl13wvfii.jpg

The chest plates will have rare earth neo magnets, velcro and snaps....no way this will be coming off, the neo magnets I am using will hold well over 15lbs each, the are used to hold open windows :wacko so they are silly strong.... I like that.
20160205_095745_zpsntsuvmlq.jpg

My main focus is to get the hose attached to the under sleeve on the right arm.... now I know full well the issue with the pipes bunching up and pushing the sleeve out making the whole arm look silly when you bent it....I think I have solved the issue.

these images are not the final product the are just proof of concept (Am covering the fact the stitching is horrid)

I see a lot of people using clips to hold the pipes on and it makes it easy when you want to take it off, one of the issues I find with this is a lot of pulling on one spot and almost tears your head off when you bend you arm due to pipes pulling down on such a small area of fabric.
20160206_191332_zpseprlj1cb.jpg

for instance
20160206_191551_zpsrardd41c.jpg

so to combat this I used a V shape strap to spread the load across the shoulder, now when you pull down on this there is no distortion in the material
20160206_201625_zpsawvoikcn.jpg

Now on the pipe end I have replaced one of the hoses with smaller diameter one ( I know that its wrong etc) but its more practical for walking around, posing for pics, and basically moving my arm like a normal person and I want to enjoy the day.

20160206_185748_zpso98n63bg.jpg

Nut and bolts
20160206_185806_zpstq6zzijl.jpg

I bolted it in a curved position and attached elastic to it, the end on the sleeve is also on at a slight angle this way when I bend my arm the whole assembly will come out from under the sleeve and flex on the elastic and not on the pipes or fabric, I have tried it without the elastic and unbent pipe and the resistance is awful on your wrist when you bend your arm...

20160206_224443_zpshedwlhen.jpg

20160206_224156_zpsv2cmuff3.jpg

20160206_224458_zpsdyrc93hu.jpg

20160206_224210_zpsuygquihh.jpg

The Boba Maker gloves come with button, I find buttons fiddly at the best of times so for ease I swapped them out with velcro, this way I can get them on tighter and keep the cuff of the flight suit contained inside it

20160206_223751_zpsowtqejk9.jpg

Again velco used to put the side pouches on to the belt
20160206_223732_zpsgabmhsfe.jpg

I have also added velcro to the forearms, getting the gauntlet to close without fabric getting all trapped and hanging out is just irritating, this way all you do is fold it over and it goes in with a lot more ease and a lot less faff!

20160206_191340_zpsc0p58mvc.jpg

20160206_191445_zpse0hijpca.jpg

One tip I find works well, when sewing onto the flight suit, stuff it with bubble wrap it takes out distortion in the fabric and what ever you are attaching will go on a lot flatter (y)

Its all going together in bits at the moment, I am spending so much time on it to get it ''right'' for Con in march my updates will be thin for a while... lots of testing lots of trial and error.. you do one thing another issue pops up, once I have figured out all these details I will tidy up all the little ''concept ideas'' I am using, I don't want to make it all work but then fall apart on the day.... so effectively I will end up doing it all twice :unsure feeling drained........but optimistic :D

I will get it done!

I have another idea that seems to work in principal,

so here you have a hose

20160207_141520_zpsloib2f1w.jpg

Its the hose in its resting state but look closer if you can see if it has a few dozen slits in the curved side....

now when you flex the hose

20160207_141742_zpsfulkkxob.jpg

the slits open up and you can bend your arm without feeling the resistance of the pipe, this is a dramatic version of the idea, I have gone ahead and done this with my set up with more slits and not so deep the combination of this and the elastic means I can hardly notice it on my arm.

I have had a go at placing the armor on the flak vest, I didn't know this but the Boba Maker armor has all the inconsistency of the original screen used armor in the sense that its asymmetrical and is a royal pain in the a** to line up!

20160207_175911_zpsahgpqvdq.jpg

I never want to sew again after this . Its all very rough copy at the moment I hope to have something worth posting up with more progress soon, busy busy busy...
