So I finally masked off the rest of the yellow and had to go over some of the silver also.. not a big deal. Didn't really set me back any. When I started to lay down the green I got real nervous because it looked a bit too light, especially over the yellow. After I added a couple more coats, it really started to look good. I really liked this color choice.
I waited 24 hours for it to dry and began peeling away the masking. For some reason parts of it was smearing along the edges which got me a bit frustrated. I was using my finger so that is probably the issue. I may try to add more masking fluid to make it a bit thicker because I also noticed some green got through some of the yellow and silver.
I went ahead and started using a brush to add all the small silver scratches and notices it applied really easily, so I just went ahead and started touching up some of the spots that green and yellow got on the silver and changed a couple areas that I felt wasnt very accurate. Had some yellow and green left over so I fixed all the smeared spots and fixed a couple spots too.
I am finished with the kidney plate and I am very happy how this turned out. This was my first actual airbrush job and I learned A LOT. I feel my front parts will look SO much better.
Went ahead and masked off the silver on the back plate also during the week.
Last thing I did tonight was get the yellow down. I got autocross tomorrow so I will let this sit and dry til tomorrow night.
Quick question though, I got some blemishes in the green where its more glossy in one area and dull in other spots. When I apply the semi gloss clear coat, will that take care of that? Or will using the 400 grit sand paper fix that before the clear coat?
