Update!!
My oh my...it's been quite some time. Since my soft parts have been done earlier this year, I have been working on my partner's Boushh costume which is almost complete, and I started a TK (all that is left is building the armor). It's been tough not working on Fett, but I managed to do a few things. For one, I weathered my cape a bit differently. I asked Woodman how he gets his capes so awesome and all I had to do was take a hammer to the cape over some rocks to get a similar texture. I'll show more detailed shots on that later.
From what I understand, my helmet, armor, and gauntlets should be shipping from Fettpride soon. My jetpack got changed to MOW and arrived within 3 weeks. Stellar work, although it's a lot heavier than what I imagined. Hah!
Here it is!
I have all the aluminum pieces for it, so I will be selling the unused resin shortly along with any other bits and pieces I don't need.
Another sweet addition to the costume is the smoke unit that I want to do a video tutorial on. It's from MrRCSound:
http://test.mrrcsound.com. He designed a smoke unit for RC planes, so I figured something equivalent would have to work for a jetpack. I corresponded with him for quite some time and he came up with a great alternative. I was never interested in a C02 setup for jetpack smoke. I wanted something more 'misty' and 'fluffy' ...something that looks like engines being shut down/cooled off. The C02 was barely visible I felt, and had more of that 'blast off' look. Mini-fog machines for theatrical purposes were ranging in the $600+ zone...some going as high as $1800. This unit was $200 which included some mods he did specific for the pack. Like I said, I will do a video on how this whole thing works, and how I want to set it up. But be ready...it's gonna be kick ass.
Now I'm debating whether or not to wait for my armor to start painting (I wanted to start with something easy, and the armor I thought was a good starting point)...or do I dive into the jetpack? It's my first time using an airbrush, I've got the space (my school's art room)....I think I might. I wanna get painting! I think the next 501st event we have in my local is in February, so that'll be a good marker for time. Stay tuned, ladies and gents...
