Bolting Collar and Back Armor Issue

    Howdy all,

When I bolt my collar to my back armor I am having two issues.

    1. The back armor won't lay down properly.
    2. (and this is the biggie) Once I add my jet pack, I am nearly choked out.

I made a temporary fix by adding a piece of aluminum as a shim to separate the two and give me an extra inch of breathing room. But obviously, I need to find a way to bolt the two together so that there isn't that small gap between. While this does help a little, It causes the back armor to ride out off my back when I'm not wearing the pack.

Once I get this ironed out, I will be able to weather him up good and post better pics for more ideas.

I'm sure many Fetts have run into this issue. So, I welcome your thoughts, ideas and thermal detonators.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave C.

What type of harness do you have?

I build it from images of some I've seen on TDH. I can't find one for sale. It works very well and doesn't seem to be interfering. In fact, when I don't wear it, the back plate comes up off my lower back instead of my shoulders. My back plate may also be part of the problem. I think it may be about an inch too short on the shoulders at the bolt point.

Here's how I did mine. I used Devcon plastic welder (you can also get Loctite Plastic bonder, it's essentially the same stuff) for attaching the bolts to the backplate. A better way to go would be to get aluminum studs which are threaded, here on the boards

Bolts permanently attached to the backplate

    Hope that helps!

Just from looking at your links, and measurements, It would seem that my collar and back armor are about an inch off in every direction. What are the odds you have those two items up for sale?

I can pull a set at any time (currently have a lead time on those, just a heads up), just shoot me a pm whenever you're ready.
