Gloves Question about making ESB Fett gloves

Ok, so i have been using a pair of gloves i got from tk409 in 2009..they are nice but not the correct color (they actually match the jumpsuit color)and dont have the cuff. From what i undertstand, the base glove is a military dress glove. However, i cant find any with a cuff. Some of them have a little "cut" and snap closure, but they arent a seperate cuff per se. Does anyone have a source for the correct gloves to use as a base? If not i was thinking of getting standard parade gloves, dying them, and just machine sewing on a cuff with a button. (and of curse hand sewing on the finger and back of hand sections) This sound like it would work to you folks?

No pun intended Jc27?

I always assumed the extra cuff was added by the costumer. Look for theatrical gloves. I picked up some cotton ones in grey. IMO, the real gloves were a nicer fabric than cotton.

haha thanks JC, but i honestly doubt ill do a run of them because they are a royal pain in the butt to hand sew! But i may do a couple of pairs if people want em.

SPY, yea i may try to find something better than the cotton gloves, but something similar. i actually found a pair of suede gloves that are REALLY nice and could pass, but the grey is light and i dont think i could dye suede with water n all.

Thanks but i'd rather just make myself a pair....gloves are pricey, understandably so because of all the hand stitching of course, but i didnt want to spend more than $20-$30 on a pair....however if it turns into an epic fail..i may hit you up lol

Since the whole vest-neckseal fabric conversation, I've been wondering about the fabric pads on the gloves. They appear to be something similar to tackle twill or peau-de-soi synthetic silk. They seem to have a slight sheen to them. Any plans on incorporating something like that into your v2 gloves, saint nasty? Just a thought...

they're tackle twill, and yes, my new pads are made of tackle twill. the base gloves will also have gussets between the fingers, like the original gloves. and the final touch will be the button on the cuff.

hey saint what's going. to be the price point? I'm going to try and do a set for myself but if that fails ill likely grab a pair from you.

I've spent several years on an Air Force Base Honor Guard (posting colors and doing funeral honors). I don't recall any white gloves with cuffs and button. I have tons of white gloves some with snaps some that are just really long... nothing exactly right.. :( definitely some kind of vintage, maybe even British military dress or honor guard gloves.. If you run across something I would be very interested in knowing... styles change and they might be gone for good.

personally I think these might be a good option: https://www.dennys.co.uk/Button-cuff-cotton-gloves-DW35B/groupproduct/4370/

I think the cuff was added after it was dyed like the other white parts. thoughts?

the cuff was definitely an add-on to the base glove, however the entire glove was assembled before dying, the color resistance of tackle twill kept it from taking any of the dye bath.

@JimmyC, the gloves in the link you posted look really good. i wish i could find base gloves like that stateside rather than sewing them myself.

If anyone wants to go halfzies or something on the uniform gloves from that link, let me know. The full price is 50 USD for 12 pairs. So 25 for 6 pairs etc, if my math is correct (also not counting shipping). Just a thought... I would be interested in giving it a go...
