My 2nd Helmet paint job

bassplayer82

Jr Hunter
I received my premium cold cast helmet from Animefan the other day and I will be painting this helmet as per ESB using Rafal's templates which are awesome! I will be using Jayvee's paint up to help me out this time as with my first "what the hell am I doing" helmet scratch build, it is time for a upgrade. If only my Mrs would get as excited I am about the amount of painting I get to start doing.

After unpacking and putting the helmet on my head to see if it would fit!

First up I trimmed out the visor section and marked out the physical damage in a few spots ready to be cut out

I made a few adjustments to the ear pieces and screwed on the bottom part of the top right ear cap (so I can remove it if I need to)

After wet sanding the helmet with water and washing detergent I sprayed the helmet with rustoleum grey primer, great stuff.

I started to mask the back panels starting with silver and by the time the grey went on my airbrush decided to have a meltdown :( so I will be resuming once I have a new airbrush tomorrow!

Hi all!

After getting my new airbrush I resumed painting the rear panels. My concrete is a bit off I feel however it is going to have to do!!!!! So much masking and I love it.

Now to dry some more and I can trace out the concrete and spray on the blue/green colour then weather as per the templates.

And I just finished adding my custom green and very happy with it :) I darkened the green in a few spots adding some black paint to my custom green mixture and I love it!

I will be installing it shortly and thanks for the advice, I guess I wanted to leave it till last so that the visor doesnt get scratched etc as I am painting and masking the helmet when I do the mandibles. Cheers guys!

Lookin good man!

Yes definately heed F4R suggestion. The helmet becomes very weak with no visor installed. You dont wanna take any chances!

Thanks for the advice I have the visor so will be installing it this weekend hopefully

Cheers

I started the kill stripes :) I am going to re mask out before I then spray on the silver damage with my Tamiya Metallic Silver which I have been using as my base silver coat.
