First time Animefan ESB paintup

How well do those magnets hold for you? I really wanted to go for that method in my build, but even the 10x10x5mm or so N52 magnets I tried fitting in there just couldn't hold well against the lever leverage the whole RF assembly had against it. Just a gentle head nod would drop the RF down. Ended up having to abandon it for just a really tight bolt-on method.

Looks like you have some that are about as long as you can fit in there though, they fare better?

I'm using 15x3x2 N35 magnets that I found on eBay and tried to put them as high up as possible. They hold well enough for display on a shelf, but I don't think I'd trust them if I were actually wearing the helmet and moving around in it.

7 years later I'm finally calling this done. I picked up some archive-x acrylics which did a great job tying everything together and just breaking up the surface a bit.

I did a wash of grime on the upper parts of the helmet and a wash of engine black at the bottom of the cheeks and over the red parts to mute the color a bit. I used rust on the back for the oil stains - just dab a bit on and rub/wipe it away with a finger leaves a nice stain behind.

Colors look too light, dome and cheeks are too much of an "avocado" green, back panels needs to be a richer darker green, same with the red, it's too vibrant.....technique-wise it looks good

Yeah, these are the standard Humbrol colors but I agree that some of them are a bit lighter than I would have liked. It's also fairly dependent on lighting - here's another shot in different lighting where the colors look a bit darker:

Looks amazing, and yes Fett colors are a definitely chameleon-like in different lighting and even on different screens, some people are too dull to understand that though!

I have one helmet in particular that looks SPOT on in pictures but it's...different in person.
