ESB Boba WIP - Sintra Armor, Painting, Scratch building

So my boba is slowly but surely starting to come together. Finished painting the helmet in October of last year and in the mean time i have been making the sintra armor plates (still missing shoulders,knee's,codpiece and back) the back is fabricated but i have to paint it

Here is the armor freshly cut out of sintra a while back

Then i sanded the edges and curved the plates to my body

Amazing how that changes it from a boring piece of plastic to boba armor in an instant.

I then moved on to denting the armor using a heatgun and a pencil. Along with drilling 3 holes in the ab-plate.

And a couple of days ago i started the painting on the armor here it is before priming

During the painting process it starts to look almost like the holiday special boba.

Here it is after i finished the basic painting of the plates, the green is a bit dark but i'm going to live with it it looks fine with the helmet.

Then i moved on to the chest emblem, I love doing fiddly work like that. I'm about 98% happy with it but i did end up with a couple of fuzzy edges

Cut out the stencils using just painters tape and then transferred that on to the plate. Took 3 stencils in total (Blue, White and Red parts) in that order.

I ended up using a little bit of masking fluid aswell for the smallest damage in the upper white part of the emblem.

And here is a little before and after in the end

I still have to clear coat the plates and weather them but I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out so far.

Can't wait to order my soft parts and get to try this on for the first time.

These armor plates are now finished ! Waiting on the only store here in Iceland that sells sintra to reopen after COVID so i can buy another plate to make the cod piece and shoulders.

Had a little mishap when i was clear coating which affected the finish a little bit but it's fine the armor is supposed to be dirty and beat up anyways.

MOW gloves and girth belt and the braids are from woodman!

Plan to order my soft parts from Krypton Top on Etsy a week from now.

Painting complete about to airbrush the emblem.

Here they are complete!

And here are some misc parts awaiting completion, I'm painting the back tonight so that will leave only the knee armor and cod/kidney pieces left to paint and complete.

This is far from perfect and i got some bleeds on the white in the mando skull emblem but I'm still happy with this so far Won't be screen accurate but accurate enough for me.

Small JP update, got my 3D printed thrusters in (still have to mount them correctly), redid the piano keys with sintra and am working on redoing the rocket.
My first shot at the rocket without templates was a piece of crap.

So i printed out the WOF templates and already not even finished all the parts of the rocket i can already tell this is going to be way better.

This jet Pack build has taken SO long... i am dying to finish it.

I am also in the progress of fixing some inaccuracies and some bad painting from my first attempt at the helmet, mainly the left cheek, dome and left ear.

just finished the left ear and it was definitely worth sanding and redoing! I messed up the white part the first time by mixing the paint to thin and then trying to fix it but that only made it worse.. BUT it’s much better now

Thank you i got a silicon brush to use for the application of the liquid masking so that helps me to get finer details.

the back is now finished i just have to clear coat it! Got a shipping notification from MOW my gauntlets are on their way, soft parts will be shipped early july and most of my builds are nearing completion So maybe i will be able to suit up for the first time in a months time.

What once was a F3 button on an old PC keyboard will now get a new life as a collar stud. I don’t really care that it’s not perfect, it serves it’s purpose for now

Thank you very much! Yes i can't wait to get them, I've been watching the tracking page religiously since i got the shipping notification My only worry is the size, I'm quite a skinny guy but i can probably fix that with some foam padding if they're to big.

You may need to add some padding for sure. I wouldn’t say the gauntlets are huge or anything, but I have average size arms and I needed to add some to mine. You definitely don’t want them to be loose, plus it does add some comfort. I have the ROTJ ones, but I imagine they are the same size.

On my way to the post office to pick up the MOW gauntlets! Yesterday i finished the airbrushing of the main colors on the dome (again) need to airbrush the killstripes then the rest will be topical, impossible to do the tiny details well enough with masking. But the cat scratch is much better now!

The more research i do the more i am finding out how much i hate inaccurasies and though i do love this helmet kit the shape of the helmet is off and the dent isn’t in the correct place so I’m pretty sure i will be buying a fugly in the near future.

The gauntlets came in... I thought the pieces would be much more ready to go, they have an insane amount of bubbles, strange surface texture i don’t know if that is intentional but really strange. One of the gauntlets will need to be heatformed so they line up correctly and that’s just what i noticed the first 2 minutes after taking them out of the box Not happy unfortunantly, going to require alot of work and i need to purchase tools. Is this really the condition they are supposed to be in when they are shipped??
