DVH (7CS) Jetpack scratch build (2015 updates!)

Are you going to cast it and make it available for sale?

If there is interest yes. Its likely not going to be the most accurate, but im hoping it will be nice lol

I at least want to cast one for myself. Since im also going to be building a ROTJ Fett, and maybe even a custom Mando, being able to make my own packs is a good investment for me. I know these are a pain to cast, so not sure how id work it if i get alot of interest. We'll cross that bridge when i get to it i guess :)

I'm sure you will get some interest. If you end up doing a custome mando one and want some light effects, let me know maybe I can come up with something.

Thank you gentlemen :)

Did a little more work on this today. just a bit more cleanup and filled in the gaps between the fuel tanks and the "wrap" . I also redid part of the top cap and put some Spackle on it. Theres fresh wet spackle on the body and top cap when i took these pics. The Cap still needs more fine tuning and then im going to make a mold of it and cast one to do final tweaks to. Eventually i may do that with the main body as well. Depends how happy i am with it in the final stages, but so far, i am pretty happy with this. I think the weather is getting a bit more tolerable ..and the heater seems to work in the shop now, so im going to be bouncing between this and my commissions :)

LOL! Id like to have this done before going to C7 and it be ready to cast. The problem will be getting the supplies to cast it..the stuff is pricey and being out of work, not sure how im gonna do that. Maybe if i make a mold of the sidearm i can sell those to pay for the supplies to mold this lol...i dunno

Ok more updates on ther main body. Its coming along nicely. One thing i wish i rememberd to do when cutting the templates was the slight bow to the 2 levels of raised areas on either side of the center cylinder. On the templates, they go straight down, and i cant really mod them because they are hllow styrene boxes and id rathr not chance it. So i will fix that if i make a dump mold of this first to further tweak the design. If i dont do that, i'll fix it on my V2 :)

Anyways..here is where we are at now...

Ok so today while it snowed, i decided to work on the top rear panel, to get it to the proper thickness and blend it into the top flat area.

This is the only area i really needed to utilize bondo. The Spackle would crack if put it on heavy or it would take 8 million layers to get it close to the proper thickness lol. So i did the bulk of it with Bondo and then used the Spackle over it to smooth it out. These pics go up to applying the Spackle over the bondo. It will need to be sanded tomorrow when its dry.

Thanks Rob! Im pretty happy with it so far. The only thing im seeing that REALLY bugs me is the back should have more of an arch to it. Thats something i may have to fix with a V2. I should have corrected it before adding the bondo but didnt notice it until i took these pics from the top. The uneven bondo make it looks like thre is no arch at all, but it does have it, its just not as prominent as it should be.

Also, the 2 raised areas on either side of the center cylinder should also be slightly bowed in towards the bottom, and i think im going to go in surgically with an exato knife fix it as well. lol.

Ok so im getting close to the main body being done now. I need to make the bottom fuel tank caps and finsh that all off and it needs a bit more smoothing, but overall, i think it looks pretty good. :)
