So I have a parts-caster that I built to keep me occupied after life had kicked me in the, well you know. My mom passed away after a long illness. I bought an LTD (ESP) M10 body that I wanted to make into a Boba Fett guitar. There have been other Fett guitars out there, one I think made by Fernandes. All of those were not really what I wanted. I wanted it to scream Fett to all of us bucketheads, but for the average person, I wanted a double take necessary. So, I went with the design I have on the guitar.
I filled the string holes and put a hard tail bridge on it. I was going for a George Lynch style neck/headstock thing. The tuners on it are Wilkerson. The bridge is a Schaller 3D-6 which I distressed. I got a little crazy with that, the plating started to come off. But hey, I was trying to make this thing look battle worn. This is the build thread when I was working on it…
The pickup rings, knob also got beat up in the rock polisher.
The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Screamin’ Demon and the neck is a Duncan JB. They’re wired up with a 5-way switch. I had the 5 way on hand, along with the Screamin’ Demon. I did a search and found a Duncan wiring diagram for two humbuckers wired with a 5-way. I’m not sure I dig the layout. The bridge is on in the 3rd position, and the neck or combination of the neck and bridge are in the other positions.
The ESP waterslide crinkled up on me when I hit it with some clear coat.
The action is nice and low. It plays like a dream. The neck is a little chunky, but it fills the hand nicely.
I painted the guitar with Humbrols. Weathered it with pastels and other paints.
The guitar is not perfect. From the outset, I designed it to not have to be. I was building it as a distraction project. I wanted to work on it without the pressure of feeling like I had to make it perfect. It served its purpose. Now, it’s a reminder of a bad place in my life and it kind of makes me sad so I’m getting rid of it. I’ve got about $800 worth of parts in it I think. I am proud of the paint job, and I think that’s worth something, so I’m asking $1,200 plus shipping. It’ll ship in a gig bag in a box.

New guitar paintup/build
Hello fellow Fett friends! So last fall I got the urge to build (assemble really) a new guitar. I've always wanted to build an 80's rock guitar and I've always wanted to figure out a way to do an ode to Fett scheme, but I didn't want to make it obvious what it is. I wanted the casual observer...
