No offense taken...
To answer some questions for all of you...
1.The helmet was reconstructed from a DP 95 face.
2. The sides wear flared out and built up to get rid of the warping from the DP.
3. The dome was sanded down to even it out.The DP 95 had a buldge in it that transferred thru to the rest of the proportions on the helmet.
4.The back panels where cut off and made from scratch to be straight down the back. The DP 95 curved inwards on the bottom of the panel.
As for the paint job...
1st Base coat of silver...
2nd The scratches where masked off using rubber cement and painted on thick where all silver scratches show thru...
3rd The gray primer coat was added.
4th More rubber cement over the scratch area's to give the effect of primer layer showing thru around the silver, when painting the cement on, you just make it wider around the siver area's of cement.
5th The green base layer.
6th Mask off the viser and rim for the red.
7th Mist spray Black over the red to give it a darker Boba red color.
8th Mask off the Dark Green cheeks.
9th Let dry for 2 days, then peel off all masking and scratch the rubber cement off to reveal the scratched area's.
10th I used a special pen for the details....Kids silver glitter pen!! Rough up scratches and add streaks and dots and cracks.
11th Mask off kill marks on side of dome.14 of em...masking them neat. Then add rips of masking tape on corners and sides of marks randomly to give it that chipped and faded look.
Mist spray yellow lightly until it is a good color, then mist orange over it to darken the yellow color.
12th Mist spray black for blast and soot area's for wethering.
13th Mist spray grey primer to dull the colors even more.
14th A final Matte finish spray to really dull all the colors and make it look faded.
That is about the extent of the paint job.
Soon, I will post a list of the colors used...Gotta run to the garage and pull out the cans to get all the colors right for ya.Can't remember all those names just yet...
Hope this answers a lot of your questions...
