Molds built up. Vac formed mark 1. Looks reasonable but need to do a bit more sculpting to make the chest parts fit better.
its going in right way
Hi all.
well my Mandalorian generic helmet using plasticard turned out rather mic so I've decided to move onto doing my mandolorian armour once again using plasticard as the starting point. I intend to build the individual parts and the crest master molds or vacuum forming plugs to then vacuum...
Its a slush cash using easy flo 120. I did not use any fibre glass strengthening.
Thanks for the advice on the photos.
I think i will prob not be using the phone as much to upload anymore and use my iPad instead
Thanks for all the encouraging words and comments guys.
I'm going to be moving on to the gauntlets next. Got to get my butt in gear now though as flight suit from the states should hopefully be gettig sent to me soon
:D
Again sorry pics are showing up side ways. It just seems to happen when I use my phone. Although before preview posting they show the right way round. Annoyingly strange
Mando helmet first slush cast painted up. Need to do a bit more scratching up etc.
The visor is a cheap one I've made from 3 layers of flimsy plastic sheets (red, green and top layer of blue) then backed by 1mm plastic clear Perspex. Only cost £2 to make so will do for time being
Forgot to mention in last post that the images show my first attempt at slush casting the main helmet. The detail bits are solid resin castings as well which I have bolted on. The right ear (looking straight on) actually fits snugly into a grove I have made in the main helmet as a guide. This is...
Ok it's been a while for updating this.
In the last few weeks i have built a small rotocaster along with finishing the helmet and molding it etc. So pics below
.
I haven't updated in a while but I built the Vac table from the plans you can buy on build stuff. I had to modify a few bits and pieces due to lack of supplies and also I don't know (or what to even try) to weld metal togeather.
I have a sort of diary on my website where I list 3 different...
Helmet joins sealed. I actually used blu tack and then covered it in superglue to harden it. It's a technique I have used numerous times in the past for minature modeling. The helmet after all is only a master that is to be molded and using the sand able spray paint will just add more solidity...
Getting closer and closer. Just have to fill in the join points between the main helmet and the dome then it's on to the spraying stage with the sand able paint which should hopefully fix any imperfections in the dome and fill in the small joins in the main helmet base
Photo updates
this is the dome being completed with .5mm plastic then covered in Jesmonite the a butt load of sanding. Annoyingly I can't get the top of the dome totally nice and even so more work is needed.
Then I have the first ear. I have made it possible to install a micro switch with lever...
