Durge DURGE, recent images (2009)

The Clone Emperor

Active Hunter
I wanted to share some recent images of my armour with the community where it all began. As I went to post I realized that my original threads have all fallen off the board. In retrospect I suppose I should have known this.

Being the case, I'd like to reintroduce my project with some images taken just this weekend by Rebel Legion member Alex Ford at Motor City Comic Con 2009. Thanks Alex.

DURGE, May 2009

While I worked to revise and maintain all three of the costumes that I brought to the show, the labour on my DURGE suit was the most intensive. I did win their costume contest, but the real pay-off, persay, was the response I received from my fellow Legion members, artists, and general convention attendees.

Be well,
Thomas

Greetings Thomas,

The photos look fantastic, and your DURGE looks even more impressive in person.

It was great to finally meet you and talk for a little bit before the costume contest. I'm glad that you and Demon were able to come to Motor City this past weekend and hope that you can make it back again in the future.

One thing that I never fully realized was how TALL you are. I've seen some photos of you next to other people and could tell you were a tall guy, but wow. Standing next to you in your DURGE, I could really feel the difference. In costume you had to be 6'-8" or so, right?

Thomas it was great to finally see that costume in person! I've seen plenty of pictures of it, but until you see it in real life, you don't realize the pure beauty of it.

...when I first saw your Durge trading card Thomas I thought it was a LFL card from the movies...absolutely stunning work! Never fails to impress me the more pictures I see.

Hope to see you back over in Germany in 2010 for the next Jedi Con? Was great to meet a couple of years ago and see you in your Imperial Knight costume.

You sure do travel!

Thomas my brother, your work is beyond incredible, you never cease to amaze! I sense a possible collaboration between you and Studio Fett in the near future, or at lease I hope so!

Alas poor TK-899, I knew him.

Thank you fellows. I still have to hand it to the TDH'er who, some six years ago, took me under his wing and invited me into his studio to learn fibreglassing. A big shout out to Judz Dwedd, wherever you are.

edgejedi;
I don't travel nearly enough, but when I do, I try to go long. Jedi-Con is a super easy convention to attend and I absolutely love the venue. And besides, I have some very special friends in Düsseldorf. So long as I can afford airfare, I am there for 2010.

Studio Fett
¿Collaboration? Super good. I am thrilled at the possibility.

I think the most important tool I could wish for now is a studio. Space is a much undervalued implement in the process of creation. Had I my drothers I would be rebuilding DURGE from scratch. I have faith that everyone here understands the compulsion.

Be well,
Thomas
