shenphong

Active Hunter
I've been cataloguing my Scout (TB) build for 501st entry for the past few months and today, finally submitted my application shots. I'll be adding my photos and wip shortly to the thread but would like to begin it with my submission photos along with photos "just for fun" with my DLT-19. Please excuse the wampa wear tag on my glove, gotta photoshop that out!

Breakdown of items:

Armor: Studiocreations (SC)
Helmet: SC
Gloves: Wampawear
Body Suit: Redkap with mods
Flak Vest: T-shirt stitched up
Boots: Target workboots with marine vinyl
Weapons: HFX (Hyperfirm)

I will be providing details shortly as to how items were made and basic cost soon for those interested.

Now to the WIP:

Most of the armor pieces and helmet pieces come trimmed from SC, a fantastic service and not one many other armor makers offer as a standard. The helmet needed some smoothing on the edges but went together pretty easily, using e6000, I attached the visor piece to the facemask.

Masked off the nozzle and painted the center portion flat black and detailed the nose piece:

The SC side forehead bolts are metal, for a more accurate version, I purchased the accurate 3m grey plastic head liner bolts.

Using velcro, measuring out the straps for the armor and belt pieces, not using snaps currently for this build. Side drop boxes for the belt require cutting to fit the straps. The belt pieces from SC come in 4 pieces, I opted to glue the 4 pieces together with e6000.

Moving onto the boots, base boots from target and white marine vinyl from Joann's. Pretty basic work, stretched the vinyl onto the boots and pinned it down with pushpins. Using the templates on the bikerscout.net, measured for fitment and cut out the calf section and the overlaying strap. All adhesives used on the boots were shoe goo and stitched on the calf section with heavy duty thread. Added the stitch details on the overlaying flap.

Moving onto the flight suit. The base suit is the widely used redkap suit. The pockets have been sewn closed with 2 front pockets removed and turned into the neck flap. Faux suede was used on the crotch area and the butt flap was measured out and added on with a velcro strip to allow for easy removal when washing. Thigh side straps were sewn in cleanly and added straps to the thigh areas.

Flak Vest was made from a black T-shirt from michaels, one size larger than I normally wear. Using the instructions found on the bikerscout.net forum, I stitched up my own custom fit flak vest. Very simple and easy to do while keeping costs down.

Continuing work on the belt, main strap on the belt was measured out and attached via velcro, I then added one rivet to each side
