My first attemts to build a SWOR HavocTrooper

EvilLionO

New Hunter
This is my first attempt to build a costume like this for my son. Here's some drawings I've done after looking at ref materials.
Right now it's just the helmet, I'll be looking to sketch up the rest real soon. I also might have to go and get me a commander cody toy to help me
with the visor.

Here's a link to the drawing

Well finished modeling the helmet with out the visor. Took me way too long. After this i'll take a break do some RandD on how to break it apart for pepakura then i'll try and draw up the elbow, forearm and hand armor. I'll start modeling the visor tomorrow hopefully that won't take me as long since the helmet looks to be the most complicated of all the pieces.

Here's the link to some picks, hope you guy/gals like.

Here's and update, finally got around to drawing up the elbow, forearm and hand armor after doing my R&D on unfolding in pep. Which took way too long. Tomorrow or i should say later today i'll tackle unfolding in Pep, scary. Especially since i'm too broke to buy the full ver. and won't be able to save. So it will be all or nothing on that, if i'm done with time to spare i'll draw up the hip and thigh armor.

Here's a link to the drawing, oh i'm gonna have to resize the bicept armor, it's looking too small.

Here's an update for today, I finished prepping the file in Pep and now i'm off the computer for a little while while i get the helmet started. I've tried building the helmet twice already and once it came out too small and the second to big. So now i'm found the middle and hopefully that should do it. I need to find my extra xacto blades i have some where so i'm off to the garage to try and find them. Should make cutting easier. hehe i hope.

Update for today, here's a pic of how far i've gotten with the pep work on the helmet thus far. Sadly i'll probably only be able to do the helmet in time for monday. Tho i do plan on the finishing the whole thing in the long run. I have to say it's fun being able to this, almost to the point of addicting, haha.

Update, wow i'm stressing trying to get the helmet done in time for tomorrow. Here's some pic of where i left off this morning at 4am. Also one of the small details. How i miss the idea of putting detail in the texture as opposed of the geometry. Those that asked for the file will know what i mean.

Halloween Update. I have crashed and I am burning. Didn't finish the helmet in time for my youngest son to wear to his schools Halloween day. On top of that it's to tall for both him and me. It sits on our bodies and our heads don't come into contact with the top of it at all. For me it's snug on the sides. Funny enough tho it seems to fit my teenage sun. Wow i have a short neck. Needless to say it's back to the drawing board for me to rescale the helmet and then go at it again.

Update for today, I went ahead and finished the base helmet, I still have the visor to go on this helmet, I'll start tackling that tomorrow. Here r some pics of it thus far.

Now i've started to run into other problems other then scaling on this and I was hoping maybe some of you guys here on the forum might have some advice for me on this. The Pep work has warped on me. Here r some pics of this to show what i mean.

My question to you guys is has this happend to you? If so how have you gone and fixed it? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Just like on a car, when the body has no support it twists like a SOB. Then you have the water in the glue warping the paper as it dries.

You just have to twist it back straight and brace it there.

You're one of the first to do a Havoc. Are you releasing the Pep?

Hey Terryr, thanks for the comment and i have to completely agree with the twisting. I used some masking tape to help the twist the helmet back into shape and it worked. Thanks to golem95 from the 405th for the tip. Now the helmet is ready for resin once i'm done with the visor. I'll post and update once that is done.

Re: releasing the Pep, sure, just shoot me and pm with your email and i'll send u the file once i have it unwrapped.

So it's been awhile since my last update, things have gotten slow around here now that the kids r back in school and i gotz do to allot of everyday life again. No worries tho i'm still going thru with this and i'm still plugging away.

I have a pic on the chest i modeled. Link below

Lion_O's blog: SWOR HavocTrooperBuild10

I was planning on simplifying the model but then i read Spitfire22V's LD Mark VI build
Spitfire22V's LD Mark VI build - Now Completed
where he did a Low Res armor (which came out awesome by the way) and towards the end he wished he had done the high def armor. That and all the bondo work that had to go into it. I've worked with bondo and have already killed enough brain cells with it. So the less bondo i have to do the better. So hence why i con't to do as much detail as i could in the model phase. Hoping that when i get to the bondo stage it won't hurt as bad. Fingers crossed. Also i modeled the chest thinking differently. Meaning since i'm not animating this and don't have to deform it I let triangles be a bigger part of the build. It became a bit easier to model and I'm hoping that this will also help me in the pep build. Also the pic doesn't show it but I added supports to help keep it from warping on me.

Till next time :love

I know you have links to your blog site for pics...
Any chance of you posting 1 or two here. The military server is blocking access to all blog sites. (Funny that it missed this forum though :) )
