New Hunter
Hi! New member from San Antonio, TX. Recently joined 501st as a sandtrooper and want Fett to be my next project (though it will take some time) I've downloaded all wizardofflight armor and paint templates. I've been reading the boards extensively to see what all I need to craft/but. Made some paper prototypes and think I'm ready to make armor from sintra board.

I'm going to start with gauntlets since they will be most challenging.
Any advice?

Don't muck it up[emoji38] . All joking aside, keep in mind that troopers are very different from a Fett in many ways so you will learn many new tricks with this build.
-also: if you want to experiment with a new technique of some degree, you will probably find it best to run the idea by some of us first, because it's better to ask a dumb question than make an expensive mistake.

Goodluck with your Fett,
Mike

Many people have tried discouraging me from this build. But they're all TK's and say that this costume takes a certain level of obsession.... which I have with this character.

Worse case, it will make a good custom Mando until I can get it right

Its like this... if you can attain the SWAT level of the TD... you can do a Boba. But if that's too much for you... Boba may be a bit too much. Its kinda the most complicated costume there is and expensive.

AND welcome

From what I understand, the only thing limiting me from SWAT is I need to craft 3 buttons for abdomen (instead of 4) and have a backpack, larger weapon (which I'll craft a T-21 out of wood/PVC)

I want to learn new skills for costuming. I would like to do a lot of it myself rather than buying a bunch of kits. It may not look just as pretty or be 100% accurate. But it would make me proud knowing I did the work

Well time is $$ if you have the time go for it....but most things you can get for far cheaper then what your time is worth.... to build and cast parts its going to take you many hours and theyre unlikely to be as refined as what you can get from most of the makers.... If you spent 40 hours trying to make your armor and it looks decent...and you value your time at say $20 an hour you have $800 armor you could have bought for less then half... and spent that same time building something like your T21 for example. I get where youre coming from but some things aren't worth trying to reinvent. Or scratch build.

That's some sound advice there. For me I just like to have something to keep me busy. I'm a firefighter and on my days off I have only so many productive things I can do. When I really got cracking on it I finished my TK kit in 1 month.

I will take all the constructive criticism and advice in the world though. Keep raining down truth bombs folks.
