I think I'm ready to start this...

I've been a member of the 501st as a TK for about 6 months now, and the Rebel Legion as an X-Wing Pilot for about 3. I've trooped about 10 times and I got to admit, I'm hooked. I've generally got an ear to ear smile under my lid whenever I'm suited up and I do as many troops as my work and family schedule allow. My wife is pretty supportive of my new hobby and while my kids do miss the time away from me when I'm trooping, they do love that their dad is a Stormtrooper and like helping me work on my costumes. I'm hoping to bring the family along on troops in the future, but so far the timing hasn't worked out.

I decided to go for the trifecta and join the Mando Mercs and started working on a custom Mandalorian a month or so ago. I've made some decent progress but I think I've officially been bit by the Boba bug. Every piece I work on I look to Boba Fett for inspiration, and while the custom I'm working on will in no way be mistaken for Boba Fett, I can't help but want to do him(what? :facepalm) specifically an ESB version. It doesn't help that we've only got one regularly trooping Boba Fett in my area and I think he likes trooping some of his other costumes more.

When I initially started I had no idea just how expensive Boba Fett was going to be and I usually scoffed at the couple of $3500+ complete costumes I saw pop up for sale here and there. Well, now that I'm a little farther into the research, I'm realizing that's not at all an unrealistic number if you want good stuff, and unfortunately for my wallet, I want good stuff. I'm just going to have to work on my impulse control and not order everything at once or my wife will kill me.

blah blah blah, anyone still reading?

So anyway, here I am. I've already ordered a few pieces, like a belt, helmet and girth belt, and starting working on a Sidewinder EE-3.

I'd appreciate any tips, advice, free stuff, or help along the way.

3500 is reasonable like you said...if you can afford it you might get soemthing really nice out of the deal. Its very involved alot more to it then any other suit really...take your time and research.

There is a swap thread in the cargo hold. Check it out to see if anyone has something you need.

Thanks everyone.

Got a lot of various parts coming in, but still haven't found/decided where to source any of the hard parts. I probably need to slow down for a while and let my hobby budget catch back up, although I've been seriously thinking about letting a gun or two out of the safe to fund the whole thing.

Once I have a few more things in hand I'll likely start up a WIP thread.

I'll probably be contacting him soon. I'm down to just needing armor, gaunts and a jetpack(and a few small items), and deciding if I'm up to painting them all myself.

IMO, you should go to Arkady for soft parts and MOW for your boots, Jetpack and gauntlets. Extremely high quality products.

Glad to see I've made some good choices. Already commissioned Arkady for all my soft parts, and have some MOW boots in hand. Will likely be pulling the trigger on his gauntlets soon and was told he's reworking his molds for the jetpack.

You won't be disappointed with Carole's work and her prices are incredible. My Jetpack was one of the last of the old mold but it still is amazing.

Chris does jetpacks too if you were curious. I have a LS4U vest and neck seal and they are nice, but I think that I will PM loanstar for my suit and pouches since he will weather them too. Anywho, seems like you are going to town on this costume, have fun and enjoy the ride. Oh, and post some pics too.

Got some MOW gauntlets on order. Just need to decide on whose armor and jetpack I want... and who gets to paint them. Had a real gut check moment and realized that I am just not up to the task of giving any of it a worthy paint job, especially the helmet. I might try doing the gaunts myself, and see how it goes.

F4R is going to be doing my armor, so I'm psyched about that. You really can't go wrong with either of them.

I think it's time I start a build thread. I have all my soft parts, gaunts, helmet, holster, sidearm, blaster and I just sent payment for a set of RKD armor.

I think I'm going to contact Fett Seven for my jetpack, I like the look of his and it seems all of his costumers have been real happy with them. Haven't heard back from anyone else that I've contacted about them...
