Greetings from the Netherlands!

Hello all,

I'm Jeroen from the Netherlands and I've always been a great Star Wars fan. Last month I"ve had to wear my Fett costume for the first time and I have noticed that there is much to improve on it. So I'll hope that I can get some inspiration around here!

I myself have had great help in the creation of my Fett and custom here on TDH, I' m sure you will aswell.

I' m also a member of the dutch 501st Garrison.

That's great there is a 501st in the Netherlands! Have you posted photos of your Fetts yet? I'd like to see your costumes. I'm a big Oranje fan, so I'm always watching soccer and following the standings. Hoera Oranje!

Well, here is a picture of me in the costume, I'm no satisfied with the colors. The helmet is from Master Replicas and has not the same color as the rest of the armor, so I want to change that. The gauntlets are also tho bright coloured, and I'm thinking about to buy another set. These are from Evolution and they are not so well made according to my opinion.
And a fine set of boots of course.....so there are many things that must be changed as you can see.
But the beginning is there.
I'm new with costumizing and trying to learn a little bit about all this here on the TDH.

Your Fett looks like a great start-out!!
For a first Fett you should pad yourself on the back for that one!!

Colors that are to btight are easily fixed with rubbing on some enamel model paints with a tissue or something. These enamels are those little tin cans you use for modelkits. Alot of toy stores carry them.

ALso, once you' ve finished the rubbing on, you should try some misting (just hold a matt black/grey spray can from about 30 to 40 cm away and start darkening and dirting the item youw ant darkened. The same matter of weathering is applied by me to the flightsuit. Although the nice thing about textile is that you can also you high shiny colors, as they won' t shine on textiles anyways. So get a dark brown/ light grey/ blue and black spray can of the home brand from " Gamma" or " Karwei", as these are acldy based and will stay on in the washing machine.

You might wanna do Wookie braids out of synthetic hair and braid more " animal" like braids.

I think you have most of all the parts, the only thing I miss is the Girth belt, here in the netherlands you might be able to pick one up at a horse riding sports store, you should ask for a " singel". Biggest problem is that most girth belts are now made as a singel rubber band rather then loose ropes, as they sand down the belly of the horse. Dying can also be tricky, though I just used spray cans again, worked well enough for me...

My weathering is all done topical, alot of people do it layerd, so they start out with a silver base, mask of the scratches and then do all the paints over that, that way you' ll have real silver scratches shining through from underneath a broken paint scheme. I like the control I have with a brush though.. So I' m still going topical.

Looks like a great start!, I'm still working on my fett as well. You'll see that there are numerous ways to build your costume. RBF for example is one of the best on scratchbuilding armor.

I'm definetly gonna practice on that!
Yesterday I went to the paint-shop with my helmet to letting make the same green colour according to the helmet in a spray can, so I can paint the armour again. (You had to look at the face from those people there when I took the helmet out of the box )
About my wookie scalps: I don't like them neither. I find them to "fake"; these are made by Evolution from doll hair. I planning to replace them in the future for another pair.
I have wearing a girth belt on the picture, but it is not visible though.
The pouch belt is covering it.
The one I have is from Evolution also, but I'm not completely satisfied with it. It is not stitched correct and I don't like the buckles. So I want to change that also.

And maybe a stupid question to Ruben: what is RBF?
