Thanks apollo, the way I did the paint chips was I painted it and then when the paint was just about dry ( still slightly tacky ) I covered it with the blue painters tape and let it sit for about 10 min. than pull it off and you have paint chips. ( it helps to have the first layer silver or a chrome.)

I think the paint job on the helm came out good..... do you think it needs more or less.

Lookin good sir. The only thing i would suggest for the helmet would be to weather the black parts (mandibles, ring around the back, etc.) a little more, and perhaps paint the back keyslots black. for me, matching mandible and keyslot colors is awesome. keep up the good work sir. (y)

GREAT WEATHERING! GREAT HELMET! I LIKE IT ALOT!

See how that sounds like a really obnoxious man yelling accross the room asking you if you got tested for aids? lol

Not saying you're obnoxious though.

Great Job, but the weathering should be a little more "Weathered" If you know what I mean. This just looks a little manufactured.

But other than that little flaw, everything else looks great!

I wonder if I'm seeing the visor correctly. Forgive me if you explained this and I missed it above or in your original plans for the custom. Did you purposely limit the visual range of the visor, or just leave the version that came with the helmet? I've known people to make their visors larger, but not many smaller. You might be surprised to find how little you can see--the visor's already pretty narrow. If I remember correctly, you're a police officer. I've been wondering recently what the design reason was behind Boba Fett's visor having the vertical strip. If for improved vision, why not much wider, like a riot gear helmet face shield. If not for vision, why not make the front of the helmet solid? Aside from coolness factor, of course.

I look forward to seeing more of this. You've moved pretty quickly on your design, and your weathering is quite good.

the visor is still original (its a rubies) I'm waiting untill the new one shows up before I cut and replace it.

In the republic commando books i think it is explained that the HUD is a 360 degree system.... So I figure that should take care of the vision problems.

So there needs to be more weathering? I read from cutelucca that when you think its to much than its enought. But I will add more. Does the armour need more or just the helmet.

thanks for all the help.... keep it coming.

I think what they are suggesting isn't adding more weathering, but making some of your weathering look more natural. Are you going to add the detail to the central diamond?

What I was trying to say was a full visor will give you more visibility when wearing the helmet. Glad to hear you plan to change it out.

I think the weathering looks really good. Others may be suggesting that you add some simulated "earth" weathering with acrylic paints that could replicate things such as Geonosis dust, Tatooine sand, Coruscant underlevel dirt and grime, etc, etc. You might consider taking a look at the process for Jango weathering.(y)

the only thing i'm suggesting is that you make the mandible parts and the ring around the back little more worn. it looks too...pretty  that's all i was suggesting, then again i like it to look really beat to hell. hope this helps. great job again (y)

oh, and one more thing i just remembered. You should def get a tough wire to keep the shape the way its supposed to be. I've got a rubies, and it was left in my grandparents garage for 5 years between me making a quick suit, to me getting serious about this suit, and the thing was pretty flat...lol. I can explain better how to do it in a pm or something if you'd like.

I do plan on a little more weathering, but this is a mando custome cop. Most real cops keep there gear clean and crisp so there wont be any ground in dirt or grime, but it will be well worn and defitnetly show signs of use. thats kind of the look I'm going for. I do agree that the black needs to be toned down.

Yea what I mean is to not have more weathering, just to keep it simple but effective. Make it look like it fell off while you were on duty. Make it look like it has a big gash by the visor. But the silver paint, to me at least, looks sponged on. Everything else is great though, like I said.

I kind of agree that the weathering of the helmet does seem a little to regular all over. I actually thought it was sponged on until I read how you did it( a very interesting way of doing it by the way).

Weathering is also more than just silver scratches. Get some washes on there. You're a mandalorian! You've been in the mud, run through jungles, had all kinds of brick and mortar dust fall on you after you blew stuff up!:) Get your self a few different shades of brown and dark grey and even light grey acrylic paints. Dab it on heavy and then wipe it pretty much completely off. Do this over and over again, mixing the colors and overlapping them. It should never end up being too heavy when you've wiped it off. Always wipe in a top-down motion, as this will replicate that some mud got on you helm and then as you trudged through the rain is made the mud run down your helmet. More realistic to do it this way.

Hope that helps!

I realy like it, considering I made the design up in my head about 2 years ago. I can't beleive how much the armor looks like what I had in mind for my spare set! And the weirdest thing about it? I had planned it to be a Mando Police Officer.
