Starting my first Mando today

I really like the idea of a more organic looking Mando; it'd be cool to do a lizard based one I think, like model it after a krayt dragon. The helmet could be like Rholan one, pointy in the back, and the armor funky shaped, almost like the crusader armor (on the left), but maybe with some jenisari influence.
 
I've got a question for all of you who have bondoed a helmet before. Ive been sanding today and the dome just looks like it did before i rebondoed the dents. Its all dented!!! The good news is i havnt struck paper this time. So does that just mean i have to keep sanding?
 
you can sand a little more, or add a little more bondo to round out the low spots, you dont want to sand back down to paper agian, but you also dont want the dome to look too tall.
 
Ok a quick little update :D

Sanding is coming along find (still doing it though)

And i was just thinking ahead...... Im not sure how to get the earcaps, rangefinder, and keyhole :( theres a possibility that i can get the earcaps from Jason...... but guess who doesnt control the paypal...... ME! so im not sure what to do there
 
earcaps you can make with the WoF temps (he has a set for them!!! :) ) and RF as well...

The keyslot is a bit tricky...I make mine out of plastic, then cut out the required shape from the helmet, then glue it in...

just going to say that anything that i have to buy will be on hold for a little while.... bought a leather jacket....... ya that set me back :lol:
 
relax vod, take your time with it. i get to wear mine to school on oct 30th lol i can hear the announcement now, There is a Mandalorian on campus run and hide while you still have a chance. :D

For christmas all of my relatives all meet in the town my parents grew up in (my favorite place in the world) But I have a cousin who is also making a custom,(hes the one who introduced me to TDH but he ended up using MandoMercs instead) But we're both going to try and finish for the end of december :D

Gonna troop around town! Its going to be a riot and my other cousins going to be bringing a camera so all of you can see what happens :lol:
 
we're considering walking into the store with our blasters (its a small town) and just see the reaction.... but then theres always the possibility that they think that we're robbing the place :lol:
 
Hey Levi! Sweet progress ner'vod. yea not to worry im stuck in the same spot as you, im not cruising if I am its at a awfully slow speed.. lol. Dont worry sanding took me a whole month to get through! And I still found a few spots when I tried to paint it!!
 
the whole problem with the slowness of this project is that in about a month snow will seriously blanket everywhere! And they're predicting the coldest winter in a long time!
