Thank you . Piece by piece....my chest armor will most likely be the next armor pieces completed. I have already shaped them and have molded them slightly to contour my body. I am not going to do the painting though until I have my vest (RA, which should be arriving soon) in hand and can be sure that everything lines up as I want it to. Thanks to Thrawn2222, I also already have an awesome leather ammo belt/holster setup. Some of you may have seen it before. It is all black leather, with 7 Boba style usable pouches and an overall Jango style look. It was originally comstructed by MP from early black and white photographs. It is really nice and lends well to the overall suit. I was also fortunate to land a pair of brand new BedStu Modules. So, like I said, a lot of the style is similar to Jango, but with it's own personality. I am basing it off of the premise that some of Jango's gear was more of a standard issue for certain Mandalorians, who would have those parts somewhat tailored to their own needs/rank. I am working on the jumpsuit right now as well. I'm still not sure about my guns. For now I will most likely be sporting westars, but in the future I am planning on constructing my own weapons. I'll be sure to post updates as I complete the pieces.

Thanks everyone. TK-Fett, I used black "Delta Ceramcoat" Acylic paint for the weathering. I applied it unthinned with a nylon sponge. I just blotted it on and then blotted again with a dry part of the sponge. I also used tissue to blot it. I did it very thin the first time to fog the metal, and then reapplied and blotted again in areas to deepen the weathering. For the corners/edges, I used an angles sponge and did the same. For hard to reach areas of parts i wanted a bit thicker, I used a fine brush w/tissue. You only need to keep a few areas totally unweathered to still give a peak of the shine underneath.

Sometimes we wish we were making custom suits; then you don't have to worry about all the accuracy and details that are in the movies. Oh well we'll just have to make some custom accessories for our suits.
Anyways, You applied the weathering after the R&B, right? We weren't sure, especially since we've never used the R&B before. :facepalm

Ya the weathering was the last step, following the Rub n Buff. It looks best as a non-glossy paint (I haven't seen much shiney dirt in my time). The sponge was key because, although you can't see it in detail in the pictures, when you blot it, you can also wipe it a bit which adds really fine streaks. The streaks really resemble the swirl marks you would get when polishing metal and makes it look like the dirt got trapped in the swirls. It's pretty subliminal, but it has a lot to do with the look.
I can't wait to get more of my gear finished either. My time is limited so I can only put in so many hours here and there, but I am steadily moving forward. You are right about the accuracy thing with the custom. Thats the best part really is that you are free from having to do things a precise way, but at the same time there still is obviously a degree of accuracy to follow to get a good effect. Going custom, you have to also be careful to remain balanced and not over-do it. The design of Jango and Boba are really masterpieces from great artists in a galaxy far, far away. I still look at my 12" Jango figure and think "man, that sure would be a great costume..." but at the same time I am happy with creating a personal set of armor.
