just a simple question or maby more lol

Yes, the Mando'a glossary can help when choosing a name. I'm Darth Taiter as an ID, but for my character name, I just use a Mando familiar of my name to come up with Mir'ika as I am known as "little Miriam" by my family in RL. But, I gave my character the official first name of Mirdin, derived from Mando for smart though Mir'sheb would have been more descriptive LOL Tarvos is the name of one of the moons of Saturn I thought sounded cool (I love space stuff!). Looking to astronomical names might give you some good ideas.

As for armor materials, some are easier to work with than others, and as was mentioned, differ in costs. I started with trash can armor, but found pvc foamboard (brand name, Sintra) much easier to work with and not too much more costly.

For the steel-looking color, I'm using a metallic grey or hammered metallic Krylon Fusion, a spraypaint for plastics. I also have an airbrush I plan to use for a few details, but would probably suggest using a similar grey color in airbrush inks to get what you want.

Good Luck!

thanks o and to join the mercs, do i need a vest seperate from the flightsuit to attach chest and colar and back plate to? and then what is the simplest way to attach the armour to the clothing?

If you check out the stickied thread regarding the Mando Mercs, you should see the 2009 rules.

I think though that it is much easier to have the vest as a separate entity with the plates pre attached, this will mean that you only have to don the vest and you're away.

If it's a light colour then I would say yes, BUT you may need to research the flightsuit material to get the right dye.

I'm not too sure if Bleaching the suits would get the old dye out or not, someone with a little more experience than me would need to answer that.

If you leave the old colour in, it would effect the new colour.

ok, so then that vest, how strong does it need to be? just strong enough to hold together with the plates? and could i just epoxy the plates onto it?

Technically, you should head over to Wal*Mart if you have one in your area and pick up some leather material. There you can make your vest. I tried searching for already made vests and nothing really came up. Well some stuff came up but nothing that would fit me as I am a small person and therefore need a small vest LOL!

Now as for attaching the plates there are a number of ways.....industrial velcro, bolts, snaps, and harnesses. Epoxy can be use to get the overall toughness in your armor which is what I am doing with my cardboard armor. I am placing cereal box's over the top of them and pushing them together then using adhesive to keep the armor firm.

well i just want the armour attached to the vest so i can just put the vest on and i got everything on. could i use the epoxy without worry? so is ur material acual leather? where do u find what u found in the store? what section imean?

I have not actually gotten to Wal*Mart yet to get the leather material. But if you live in the area that I live in...you will want to use velcro or snaps. But if you are aiming towards where you want the armor already attached then might as well go with velcro or snaps. You might want to look in the crafts section at Wal*Mart or just go to a crafts store. They have all that stuff you need to make a vest.

well im not from arizona, it hasnt broken 100 so i think anything i use will hold up. my chest peices are baking sheets and i got them all cut out and ready, ill look at walmart today or tom. for stuff but i have some material that i think should work. ill just try making a vest then ill try epoxy. if it doesnt work ill just chop out the material and mount it on something else

use snaps. put the male side on the vest and then epoxy the female side on the inside of your armor. actually, turn that around, put the female side on the armor first, find where you want the armor to sit, mark it, then put the male side to the vest.

yes, snaps or industrial Velcro (the sew on kind on the vest the glue kind on your plates)

use Duck-cloth or marine vinyl for the vest.
