Isabet project

I'll let her zap him then. ;)

No reason she can't use the zapper, it looks exactly like what the toy comes with. Plus, its off brand, so its not a regular NES style. Yeah, so there... Eat it, F4R. =P

I wouldnt go as far as to say exactly, its just that so many times you see a mando merc in a picture with a zapper its rediculous. Its not period correct, and its very recognizable to most people as a toy gun from nintendo. Even being off brand, I know its a budget project but you spent some time getting woodchuck to make a custom blaster only to have the other sidearm be the nintendo zapper. I'll leave it alone now just putting in my 2 pennies worth

Clearly he would like to use the gun because he has invested the time to purchase and work on it, and all you have done is bad mouth this idea. Your posts only bring negativity to his and his wife's build thread that they are obviously excited about. There has to be something in the cod of conduct that addresses being supportive with one another.

lol... It really bothers you doesn't it? Should I use a Nerf gun instead? ;)

I might see what Woodchuck can come up with for the other one later (when I have more cash). But in the meantime, I'm diggin' the NES. Doesn't matter to me if anyone can tell or not. Doesn't make it a 'less cool' gun design. Also, that one is probably gonna be stashed most of time anyway.

Can't wait to see this one finished out brotha! Those gaunts look great too! I had no idea you and Brian had even made them (y). Just out of curiosity, what thickness are they?

Yeah, the gaunts are a prototype / work in progress, which is why I haven't said much about them.

On my resin gaunts, the hose connector is molded in so they come out all one piece (lazy design!). I just carve the lines in with a dremel to make it look like a separate piece, but it makes assembly easier and makes 'em nice and strong.

For the vac ones I'm waffling between cutting it off the ultracal master and making a separate piece, or leaving them that way for "quick and dirty". I'll probably cut it out, but I'm not sure yet. The niche I'm going for with these is less super accurate and more budget-Fett. I want a pair of gaunts with all the resin parts to be around $80 at the most, so I want them to be easy to make!
That's not lazy dude, that's a smart man saving time right there ;) I wish I'd have thought of that.

The gaunts are 0.080 HIPS, same stuff I use for my Deathwatch parts.

I've been kicking this idea around for a long time. AdamScottFM has been selling my resin gaunts on the Mercs board for a while now. I've wanted to have a more budget friendly version available, as well as a "stunt" style for myself. I finally got off my butt a while ago and poured Ultracal into the molds for the resin ones. A bit of cleanup, and here we are.

At some point I'll tune 'em up a bit more. So far, these are the only pair in existence :)

Really? I didn't know that... lol... I feel all special and warm and fuzzy all of a sudden. ;)

Seriously, these are pretty nice, bud. I barely had to do anything to them, and they went together in like 20-30 minutes (minus the flamethrower tray and whipcord housing). The pieces fit together very well, and the only gaps are from me rushing.

I'm planning to do the whipcord housing in plastic too, but that one I need to make a new positive. The mold I have for the resin one now didn't work out great with ultracal in it. Shouldn't take too long to carve out, it's just getting around to doing it :)

This is definitely a back burner type project. I pick away at them while I wait for Bondo to cure!

Oh, yeah... Is it odd that I'm turned on by this? =P

I bought a 4ft. Sintra sheet, but I don't know how I feel about it. I can ding it with my fingernail. When I saw that, I ordered a regular PVC sheet as well... Haven't tried working with it yet.

Okay... We made a little bit of progress. Got the vest all finished up, although I'm still not happy with it. I want her to have a little more neck room when the neck seal is on. I have a feeling that I'm gonna have to remake this (again).

I might also have to get some new boots somewhere local. They are like 2 shades darker than the suit. The flash makes it look worse, but they are darker nonetheless.

This is what the boots look like in daylight. They are pretty awesome so I'm gonna try to use them if at all possible. I'll have to see what they look like with the armor on them:
