Helmet HUD

Does anyone know how much space there is between your eyes and the visor of a Mandalorian helmet?
I want to design a working HUD for one of these helmets but I don't know if there's enough space for the electronics.

it varies from person to person. and on the helmet you're wearing. etc etc. kinda hard to give you an exact number.

well..... wouldn't that need a computer? and also. GRRRRRR.... you beat me to actually making a thread about this. I was hoping to use a simple projector that projects one simple image and a semi opaque visor and well I think you get it.

what do you mean why? about the computer? well you have to have some sort of computing system inorder for there to be something displayed on a moniter.

As for the computer, I was thinking about a smart phone. It would probably involve some reprogramming and tampering but I bet it would work.

I'm working on a rough sketch right now and I will try to have it posted by tomorrow.

No I mean Why would you want to or need a HUD no one else could see...I mean a working range finder is one thing a HUD is another.

As another person said on origin of the dent, so boba can watch married with kids reruns while pretending to stand gaurd for jaba. lol

Because if a real Mandalorian helmet existed it would have a HUD in it. And I think it would just plain be cool.

Im just saying you dont even have a bucket yet I assume since your asking how much room it has...might want to start buying and putting together your stuff before you worry about adding little things that no one else will see is all. Its a good and cool idea but theres alot of more important things you should worry about at this stage.

Well, I don't plan on building anything for quite some time. Not until I'v graduated from college at least. So until then I'm just coming up with ideas and drawing up sketches.

Here is a rough sketch of the ultimate goal.

There is seriously like 1 to 2 inches. Only thing I can think of putting in there is one of those wearable TV sunglasses things. The guts I mean. I wouldn't want to put that on both eyes, unless you have a camera feeding images through to the screens. When you get a bucket, and try wearing it for a few hours you'll understand why everyone is asking "why?" lol. I honestly thought of doing the same thing way back when, before I had anything, but when you play with a Helmet up close, you'll understand the ... limitations, lol.

In my bucket? Exactly the distance to the tip of my nose. And before anyone says it, that's not much of a distance at all

same in my bucket. actually less, mine kinda squishes my nose a bit ('tis also a non-standard helmet, refer to my build thread on this board for pix).

I've actually had something like your working on installed in my bucket at one time. I modified a set of EZview glasses and added a night vision camera, then installed it directly behind the visor so my eyes fit against it. While it worked, the viewing area was just to small and didn't feel safe.

The problem is resolution, and finding the right type of screens to make it work. It's nothing you can take out of a cell phone, these things have to be special ordered which is going to cost you around $1k easily. The best way to create a HUD is the same way it's done on jets, have the imaged projected onto the visor from below. Unfortunately the cost to do that would mean you need to win the lottery.
