First Helmet: Appreciate all help!

Hello friends, I'm a 15-year-old who plans on doing a custom Mando. I'm working on the helmet alone right now.

Ok, so yesterday I get a big box on the porch, open it, and find a Rubies one-piece Jango. Enough said...Yeah, it's pretty good really, for a Rubies. Don't go off on that rabbit trail, please.

So, I ordered the T-visor, and it's on it's way, I'll be asking how to put it in later, no doubt. But what I really need to know is what to do first. Here are the three thing that i think need to be done first.

1. Pop off RF and paint it and the helmet.
2.Widen with craft ring.
3. Install T-visor.

So which one do I need to do first?

Popping off the Range Finder is a good start. Go with that; then afterwards sand the helmet down. Sanding it will help the paint stick to the helmet a little better. That is what you should do first; if others agree with me LOL!

On the second note do you have an idea of design of what you are going to paint your helmet?

Thanks guys, I'll do the craft ring first, then paint(Includes sanding and pooping off RF), then the visor. Thanks.

Commander720- yeah, I tried to upload some sketches, but it wouldn't work. I'll try giving a mental picture: Think Jango- all that's silver, I'll paint tan, the ring around the back of the bucket and the mandibles I'll paint a light chocolate brown, and the part that's like an aqua color, the upper cheeks, will be black, as well as the ear caps and the rangefinder.

Good to see that you're gonna do the craft ring first, because yeah I'm gonna chase that rabbit... it will start to warp the instant it see's the light of day
I suggest glassing the inside once the ring is in place.

I like the color scheme.

I'm gonna sub to this and keep an eye on ya ;)

Thanks a lot, adonian! My dad thinks my colors are to blah, but I think they're quite versatile.

I now have this 'pressing' question. Do I use the 10" craft ring, or the 8" craft ring? 8" seems a might small, and 10" is a bit big. When I cut it will I need to bend it bigger or little. So which one do I use?

I've never used the ring method, I made my bucket from scratch, but I would think the 8", cut and CAREFULLY bent to fit from one cheekbone around the back to the other one.

I'll look around for someone who did it already and post a link here for you... Be back in a few...

here's one for now. Look half way down the thread.

another one look 3/4 down the thread, it's not a how to , but shows a good pic.

you could do that or after you get the flair right, just 'glass the whole interior, that'll hold shape really good.

Well, I'm very disappointed and ashamed to say this, but it looks like I'm not going to be able to do this. I'll most likely be selling the stuff I have in the Cargo Hold soon.

Still, there is a chance I can pull it off, it's just not very bright. Thanks for all the help though!

Edit: I don't know now, I might go on with the project. I'll know within the week.
