custom characters with custom stories

aruetusii just means non- Mando'a, basically an outsider

Thank you :)

OK...I'm just gonna throw this out there. Isn't costuming supposed to be fun? If someone wants to be a Mando bounty hunter...why not let them be a Mando bounty hunter? Does having fun mean you need to follow different rules, and be someone completely different? In my opinion, No.

Now granted I am really new to this costuming thing...so maybe I'm a noob and don't know anything, but if someone is OK with following the crowd...what gives you the right to knock them down? Let people have fun w/ their costume...now granted not everyone can be original...it sux for some people that others have to follow someone else's lead...but if the "Boba Fett Cookie Cutter's" are having fun and don't care...neither should you!

Besides, in the EU alot of Mando's are bounty hunters...or maybe I misread the latest book Bloodlines??

Yes, it is supposed to be fun, but there are also rules to be followed. For Mando costumes alone, there are a few rules: make it look as realistic as possible, don't use sweatpants in the costume, etc. Why make a costume? Because you're going to, at some point, show it off to others, be it at a Con, Halloween, or with your friends. Maybe you'll make a fanfilm. Either way, you want to make it look as good as possible so you don't get people criticizing the costumes weak points (deformed helmet, plastic-looking chest plates, etc.).
Now, the same goes with a backstory. If you don't really care what other people think, you wouldn't post one. You wouldn't be looking for opinions on it. But if you post it in a community, what you're doing is looking for approval; you want to hear people say good things about it. You're not going to hear many good things about a character that is a Boba Fett clone, and when you hear comments that you don't like, it takes the fun away. I believe, with good reason, that fun not only comes in the creation of your work, but also when you recieve praise for it.

Make no mistake, I am no costume expert, here; I'm still in the process of making my very first Mandalorian costume. What I am, however, is a Roleplayer, as well as one who indulges in Fanfic. I can't tell you how many "Im a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter!" backstories I've seen; often times, it's the sign of a complete n00b.

Now, people do have a right to have fun; they have a right to make their costume and to make whatever backstory they want. But nobody seems to like, or even recognize, the flipside of this: I have the right to not like it. If they post it in a public community, that person has given me the right to say what I think about it, be it positive or negative. Free speech goes both ways. Just because they have the right to create a story does not rob me of my right to make criticisms. The PC society of today would have you believe otherwise.

I have not read Bloodlines, but have researched it, including spoilers (I do not plan on reading it, though; the quality of EU storytelling has gone down since The Swarm War.) Mandalorians are a nomadic people who focus on battle, evolving into mercenaries. Mercenaries, though they share similar goals with bounty hunters, are not one and the same. If you recall, Fett's family was rather angry with him for taking up the bounty hunting trade and abandoning them in the process.
Let's get make one thing clear: Mandalorians are not run-of-the-mill thugs, which is what many bounty hunters are. I direct you to a passage from Mandalorians: Identity and Language:
And yet, despite the overwhelming influence of alien cultures, and the absence of a true home world and even species, their own language not only survived but changed little; their way of life and their philosophy remained untouched; and their ideals and sense of family, of identity of nation, were only strengthened. Armor is not what makes a Mandalorian. Armor is simply a manifestation of an impenetrable, unassaliable heart. "

There are many custom Mando stories. But perhaps we should ask how the "Sniffer" himself got here!

Sniff on my dear brothers! Sniff on!

The Sniffer Abides
