Aussie Bly going Mando'a.

two words...."Mando Bling" Pretty sweet armor you got there. So what is the cloth vest and suit going to be?

thanks for the bling comment, lol, i'm not actually going with a cloth vest, i thought id match the armour and go with leather. I intend to perminantly seal the pieces to the vest, so i can just take it on and off like a t shirt as soon as i work out the best option. As for the jumpsuit, it's been suggested a lighter colour to offset the gold and black, so possibly dark tan would go well, or maybe even royal blue.

I bought a set of those really cheap obi wan boots off ebay, and ive got some black leather strips, each about three feet long. They have an almost scale like texture on them, which im in love with. I want to make my boots very tough, durable looking things that would fit a mando of my characters calibre. I want to seal those to the boots, then seal the shins and boot tops onto the boots, as the boots have a velcro front piece that i can just slip on and off.

The thighs im still not sure on the best way to attatch those, but id say ill be going with press studs, velcro or maybe a combo of both.

I got a helmet coming in the mail soon that im going to attack, and rebuild, adding a secrect little suprise that will make it very, very unique, hehe.

I'll update as soon as i have any info guys, thanks for watching:)

hey guys, update time,
ive almost done my boots, just have to add some extra leather here and there, and stick down the boot tops properly.
let me know what you all think.

and a sneak peak at my helmet, it's a W.I.P, but as you can see i have some interesting design ideas in place. whoever can tell me the first two things that are noticeable will get free candy:):)

Hi guys, update time,

the following pics are a VERY rough mock up of how the armour sits, don't have my vest yet so it looks alot worse for it, and the tops of the boots and knees clash abit, but it's getting there. let me know what you all think.

Constructive criticism is welcome, as long as your not too harsh on the knees and the boots, lol. i had to stick it to my flightsuit with duct tape this time around... (feels awful()

I'm incredibly impressed by the work you did painting the longshot my friend, turned out BEAUTIFULLY... the black, silver, and copper/gold hues really turned out excellently on everything, it's the only case i've seen thus far when a set of Mando armor doesn't need to look scruffed up. excellent!

have you got a finished bucket pic? it HAS to have a giant plume or feather of some sort =D

Hmmm....
Now theres an idea i havent tried yet... let me get some sketches done and ill get back to you on that. sounds like a very interesting idea

Hey Matt,
Was good to meet you at Supanova, Brisbane over the weekend. What a great turn out! Your armor is looking great, the longshot rifle was great to see in person. Looking forward to seeing your armor when it's finished. Have you thought about adding a Kama (clone style).
Cheers

Thanks Mate, it was good to finally meet a TDH member in person!:)

Now onto updates...
if you talk to anyone i know they would tell you that i cant draw to save my life, so i enlisted/bribed with pizza(promise of) friend of mine to help and try to sketch my helmet ideas out onto some paper. I wasn't really sure what i wanted, but i knew that i would of liked some sort of clone influence, or rather have it looked like it had some influence in their design.

So curt got to sketching, based off the design of the T-Visor i have above in a pic, and we came up with a very rough version, which is thus below.

I would like to ask someone's opinion of how to go about making these modifications. I have recently started a job working with sheet metal, so there is every possiblity i can do these fins out of metal, adding to the "realism" aspect of the helmet, and would also make a nice clang if someone tapped it.

The other option is For Curt to fiberglass the mods, as his primary job is fiberglassing.

Any opinions would be great thanks guys, as i haven't started just yet and would like to know the pro's and con's of doing each one.

Hi Matt! Sonia here from Novus. It's about time I commented! The custom mando is looking very special, and I was wondering when we might see it debut.... Now I know it's because the helmet is still in progress :D

Keep up the fantastic work! :cheers

LOL thanks Curt, he is a total nerd but we love him for his being "special" haha

Sonia, i'm trying to get this done by nova in Sydney, at least that's the plan, we will see how things go as far as other costumes and such (crosses fingers)

and welcome aboard you two, lol

Hey everyone,
Been a while, but finally have some progress pics of my helmet.
Not finished yet, but is just about ready to be cast in Metal by Hand-Shaub. As usual comments and suggestions are welcome, but i've already heard the "rocketeer" one alot ,hehe so you don't have to say that.

I'll try to keep updates a little more regular from now on.

I think it looks like a great helmet honestly. Has that early clone trooper look to it. The clone plume on top looks like it's leaning a tad to the left on that pic facing the back of the helmet. May just be the way the helmet is leaning.

Pesh was kind enough to knock up a quick mock up of how my helmet will roughly look painted up, and i'm happy enough with this theme to be keeping it when it's ready to be painted.
