I just heard from someone that they no longer come to TDH because since we moved up to vB 4.0 the website has been very sluggish and it takes "forever" for pages to load for them! In fact, they went on to say that since the upgrade, TDH was one of the slowest boards they visit! We need to find out if others are having this problem or if this is an isolated issue. Please vote in the poll and let us know!

It doesn't take long for me to load at all. There are times it gets sluggish, but normally, quite fast. I don't like VB as a general rule, but it seems fine to me.

If the site is slow for you or pages aren't drawing correctly, please post which browser and which version you're using. e.g. vBulletin has had slow loading issues with Internet Explorer in the past, which took a lot of troubleshooting to track down.

I accessed this site from Southeast Asia and notice no significant slowdown.
As far as connectivity wise, both trace and pings are good.

My computer at home runs the "new" TDH super slow, especially clicking on the picture thumbnails. Yeah, the computer itself is older so that might be it, but it's running Windows XP on a cable modem with Internet Explorer. I have also tried TDH at work with Mozilla Firefox and a T1 line and it is slightly faster, but still nowhere near the speed the old TDH ran for me.

It definitely runs slower for me. In fact, I find myself sometimes having to click links more than once for them to even open.

We have implemented a number of optimizations... Would be interested to know if you are still seeing the same issues or not.

The pages have been loading quicker for me. Still some lag time whenever I try to click on a photo, but overall it's moving better for me. Whatever you did, thanks. :)

Thank you a lot. It's still not as fast (for my computer at least) as the old TDH, but at least it's moving somewhat faster than before this thread started! ;)

I'm using IE 8 on my work computer and I normally hit the browser back button to leave a thread and go back to the forum listing. I literally have to click the back button twice every time I leave a thread. It doesn't do this to me on any other forum website.

I don't visit as often to browse the threads because of the slow down for me. Or I browse only when I know I have extra time because of the increase in time it takes to load. I'm not a computer tech kind of guy, so I have no idea why the site has significantly slowed down for me.

it's slower for me as well but everything has been slower since the Firefox updates from about a month ago. Issues I have are scrolling and mouse movement lag. It's annoying but wont stop me from coming here either.

It's remained zippy for me. I'm on a 2.5 ghz core2 macbook pro w/ 4 gigs of ram, running Chrome as my browser. There's not much out there that isn't fast ;)

A thought for those of you with speed problems: try setting your theme to VB4 default, rather than the normal style. Maybe it's too complex layout-wise?

Another thought: if people are finding that older/slower computers are the problem, that definitely points to client side issues... maybe too much AJAX / client side rendering going on?
