Forum template colors look very dark

Do pardon me if this has been brought up before. I've been noticing that TDH's color scheme looks very dark. Is that on purpose - to make it more workplace friendly? Some of the words are very hard to read, even with my LCD turned up to maximum brightness. I'm on a MacBook (yeah, let the jokes begin... Mac is on a Mac) which has a wonderful contrast ratio, and even on my Mac the layout is quite dark.
