So ive been using bondo resin todocastings, but idliketo use actual casting resin. Thereis this off-white resin i usually see when i get resin cast figures or props, that kind of has a sweet smell to it when you sand/cut it. ive had vader helmets cast in this and garage figure kits cast in it. Also i think the greeblies on myscout tank were this same resin. i sure someone here must know what exactly it is and where to get it...any help would rock

I know exactly what resin you mean. But I'm on the wrong side of the pond, and all it's called from my supplier in the U.K. is "All purpose casting resin" which I'm sure is of no help. Sorry

Hi all this might be a little off but its a question about resin.Fiberglass resin I used bondo brand fiberglass resin and cloth to reinforce the inside of my boba helmet scratchbuild. Is the resin safe for the inside after it is hardened or for precuation do I need to cover it with some sort of coating? its present state is glassed, sanded and recoated in resin to make sure no glass fibers were sticking out.
Sorry Darth voorhees not trying to hijack your thread just need a little help

Figerglass resin (the bondo stuff) is safe when it cures. Its the fumes when its a liquid that will mess you up. Whatever you do to your helmet, leave it off for at least a day to let the material cure

The white resin is all purpose casting resing and there are some videos on youtube that describe it well.

For a project I am working I intend to make a mold and use bondo brand fiberglass and cloth. if someone can recommend what to make the mold from and what type of release spray I would need I'd appreciate it.

there are loads of options. think th eone most people talk of is the ones from smooth-on, but basically some sort of pourable urethan plastic eg

in UK - my friends have recommended this -
its a polyurethane resin, I have yet to try it myself but his castings look really nice!

thanks guys....i tryed looking up all purpose casting resin and cant seem to find anywhere to get it. All i keep finding is "castin craft" clear polyester resin, which is similar to the bondo fiberglass resin. Id really like to use the all purpose stuff rather than the bondo resin, but am having no luck finding it.
