Joker Hexagon Fabric Print Interest

can a size SMALL shirt be made from 2 yards? i definitely will send the payment out right now if it can. 2 yards by 63" sounds like enough fabric to me but i don't wanna dish out an extra 26 for another yard if i'm only gonna use scraps of that extra yard.

thanks in advance guys.

Two yards will definately do for a small shirt if you don't need to do every piece twice because of mistakes ;) I asked my tailoress and she said that about 1.6 square yards would already be enough. So two yards with 63inches width is perfect since it gives you a little room for mistakes. As for me I'll still let the tailoress do the work though :D

Oh and concering the suspenders: If you want the perfect suspenders I'd look for ones with button fastening and not clips. Because to a suit you usually wear those with buttons if you want to follow certain dress codes. Since the joker wears a crombie coat (that's the usual form of a city coat you wear over a suit. One of the details that define a crombie is the hidden button-facing on the front. So if you're still looking for a coat, maybe you best go with the word crombie if you want to dye a coat. Maybe you'll also find one in purple) suit jacket, vest, pocket watch and all those little details, he definately has suspenders with button fastening in my opinion. But that's just for the die hards out there ;)

BTW, I watched CLOSELY for sight of the braces during the film and never actually saw them once. You CAN see the back of Ledger's pants being pulled up after he's been flipped onto the table, which suggests braces are being worn, but again, I don't think they ever actually get any screen time.

All of this of course, to rationalize my NOT having braces because I missed Sinister's auction!!! :D

Sorry klohse, the suspenders (braces) do get a split second of screen time. In the interrogation scene he quickly adjusts the one on his left shoulder that has kinda fallen down. But that is all we get...

As for my auctions, I am truly sorry you missed out klohse. I hope the storm hasn't done too much to you and yours... Take care.

congrats kwally $200 odd for his suspenders LOL!!

Actually, that was one of my auctions. ;)

And I would like to send a great big thank you to all that were able to buy my left over inventory of personal items...

I really hope that if someone is able to pay that kind of money for a pair of suspenders (braces), that we here on this thread can put up the little bit of cash for a really awesome shirt!!!

After all that we have been through to get this done right...

Come on guys! Support the effort! (y)(y)(y)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for that little tidbit. I knew there had to be a name for that style.. I did a bit of google/ebay searching and didn't find any that were an exact match, though. Some very very close, but none with all the same features his has. I'm not going to spend that kind of money on a coat that's close when I can sew my own for the same price and have it exact.. :facepalm But at least now I know what to keep an eye out for. :D

Oh yes, and I sent in payment for six yards.

No problem, I'm always happy to help :) But I guess it's gonna be quite difficult to find that exact style the joker wears. I own two crombies which I wear when going out on cold days (I'm quite a fashion victim if you want so ;) ). But I've never seen a crombie coat that has a double vent at the back like the jokers has. And I've just done some research on ebay.com. There is none with a hidden button-fastening which is normally a detail on a crombie. Also you'll probably have to change the lining since orange lining is not really common. I've only seen crombies with red lining a few times. I have ordered the joker coat from redballs for my costume, since it is definately the closest you can get to the details. I can only tell that from the photos since I haven't got it yet, but I've only heard good things about it. Plus you definately will pay the same amount of money for a real wool crombie overcoat as you pay for the redballs coat.
If you can sew it is maybe worth a try to get a pattern and do it yourself. But I can imagine such a piece of garment is one of the most difficult works in tailoring.
Still hope I could help a little :)

Alright, I know the subject of Sinister's shoes has been brought up before, but so far it hasn't been asked; what are they called? I know they're from Aldo, but do they have a specific model name? I found a pair that looks really similar, and I'm wondering if these are the ones.

If not, could you maybe direct me to the correct ones?
Also, since an important part of this board seems to be coming to a consensus on the exact color of his outfit, I have to open the floor for one important question. Are the Joker's shoes black or brown? In that one promotional shot with him sitting on the bench in the jail cell, they do look really brown (as well as in some other screencaps). However, in the shots of the costumes on public display, and especially in the promotional "posing" shots of Heath on a white-background photo set, they do kind of look black, or at the very least, an EXTREMELY dark brown. So, what's everyone else's opinion?

To answer your questions...

Yes, those are the exact same shoes I started with from ALDO. The are the Werwulf in dark brown. They are also cheaper than what I originally paid! Shoot! After the sand paper treatment they will look just like my finished shoes.

As for the color of the Joker's shoes in the movie. They are certainly a brown suede like material. Lighting does effect the look in everyshot, but they are brown...

Kwally, I sure hope this is your auction...

EDIT:
From Ebay:

Some tool is selling the pattern that the good people on this forum worked hard to get...I wonder if that is a violation of eBay's policy and Pinder or Sereiana could get the auction removed.

Thanks, now I can finally order those shoes confidently! I guess they are brown, at least they seem to be when I compare them to the black square on his socks. Still not 100% sure if they're that light of a shade of brown, but I guess there's not really much I can do about that. Also, I know it's probably implied, but I'm just gonna say it; you HAVE to show us more pics of the costume once you get the shirt and makeup! It looks awesome!
Also, does this mean you're going to forgo trying to find the blazer and overcoat?

So, Sin... I totally dig the shoes, yet again.

I have contemplated posting about the shoe color a few times, glad someone else did first, so it didn't seem like I was nitpicking your ****** outfit. I was thinking maybe is there a black powder you could put on the shoes....sort of like shoe polish? Maybe soot. Like hair peppering for shoes!

Hey just FYI TDH rules state you cannot post an ebay thread that does not belong to you. You can only post a pic of the item, if you so choose.

It may be good to delete that link from your posts, to keep others from following it.
